Can you name every Chelsea player from the 2012 Club World Cup final?

In 2012 Chelsea contested the Club World Cup for the first time, entering the competition as UEFA Champions League winners.

In the six months following Didier Drogba’s winning penalty against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena, things hadn’t exactly gone to plan, with the Ivorian leaving that summer and Roberto Di Matteo failing to live up to the high expectations of following a Champions League win.

The Italian was sacked as Chelsea became the first UEFA Champions League holders to exit at the group stage, with Rafael Benitez coming in to replace him. Not a popular appointment at all among the Chelsea fans, even in an interim role, but Benitez may have hoped to sweeten things by making Chelsea champions of the world.

As they will in 2022, Chelsea entered the 2012 Club World Cup (hosted in Japan) at the semi-final stage and were drawn against Mexican side Monterrey. The Blues cruised to a 3-1 victory, setting up a final with Corinthians, yet another Club World Cup final between the European and South American champions.

But while Europe have dominated Club World Cup since 2007, Chelsea were the blot on the record, losing 1-0 to Corinthians via a 69th-minute goal from Paolo Guerrero.

Ten years on, the Blues are back, looking to complete their trophy haul under Roman Abramovich with what is the missing piece of major silverware. The likes of Thiago Silva, N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount and Reece James will all be led by Thomas Tuchel in search of the gold in Abu Dhabi.

But what of Chelsea’s 23-man squad involved in the 2012 Club World Cup final? Can you name the 11 starters and 12 substitutes from that 1-0 defeat to Corinthians – including one player injured but still listed on the bench? We’ve given you seven minutes to do just that below…
