The Golden Boot is the award given to the tournament’s top goalscorer, and there have been some illustrious winners. From Cristiano Ronaldo to Messi, the list of Club World Cup Golden Boot winners is a who’s who of the game’s greatest.
The 2025 edition, revamped with 32 teams, differs from previous years. The 2000 tournament featured eight teams, before moving to six clubs from 2007 to 2023. We are in uncharted territory, but the benchmark for winning the Golden Boot has increased.
As of now, Luis Suarez holds the record for most goals scored in a single tournament, netting five times in two appearances as he led Barcelona to a third title in 2015. Cristiano Ronaldo is the top scorer in Club World Cup history, with seven goals to date. That leaves him one ahead of his nearest rivals, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Lionel Messi and Suarez.
