When is the Premier League Opening Weekend? Fixtures, Odds and Key Contests
The opening weekend of Premier League action is in the history books with several teams starting their campaigns with impressive wins
Manchester City got their title defence off to the perfect start, with a 3-0 win over Burnley, whilst Arsenal were also victorious against Nottingham Forest.
Crystal Palace and Fulham both picked up important away wins on the opening weekend of the season, beating Sheffield United and Everton respectively. Perhaps the most impressive performance of the weekend was from Brighton, who gave Luton a rude awakening in their first ever Premier League game, claiming a 4-1 win.
Newcastle picked up where they left off, with a 5-1 win over Aston Villa, whilst Manchester United were lucky to escape their tie, with Wolves, with all three points.
Bournemouth and West Ham had to share the spoils in a 1-1 draw, with Chelsea and Liverpool playing out the same scoreline. The Ange Postecoglu era got off to a reasonable start, with Spurs securing a 2-2 draw away to Brentford.

What happened on the opening weekend last season?
Last season saw Arsenal state their intent on mounting a title challenge when they put in an impressive performance away to Crystal Palace, picking up a 2-0 win. It was a result matched by Manchester City, who travelled to West Ham and won by the same scoreline.
Brighton showed the promise within their squad when they beat Man United 2-1 at Old Trafford, whilst there were signs of things to come for Liverpool as they were held to a 2-2 draw against newly promoted, Fulham.
There were differing fortunes for the other sides entering the Premier League, with Bournemouth picking up a 2-0 win over Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest being defeated 2-0 by Newcastle.
