Who is the £1million prize winner on last week’s Super 6?

The £1million Super 6 prize was won in dramatic fashion last weekend, thanks to Bruno Guimaraes’ last-gasp winner against Fulham.

Scottish football fan Martin, 68, is indebted to the Newcastle United skipper, whose late heroics at St James’ Park made him a very rich man.

What is the Super 6?

Free to play, football fans across the UK have the opportunity every week to predict the outcome of six matches in the Premier League.

The prize of £1million was on offer to anyone who correctly predicted all six scorelines of those matches.

But with nobody having claimed it after the opening nine rounds, the jackpot was on offer to whoever topped the leaderboard following the conclusion of matchday nine.

How had Martin performed in the Super 6?

A Falkirk supporter with a soft spot for Celtic and Arsenal, Martin was one of over 10,000 players in contention to land the bumper prize.

He occupied third place heading into round nine, having correctly predicted several unlikely scorelines. They included Manchester United’s 1-1 draw at Fulham on matchday two, and Manchester City’s 2-1 defeat at Brighton the following weekend.

Martin also guessed Chelsea would beat Liverpool 2-1 on matchday seven, and Aston Villa’s 2-1 win at Tottenham the following weekend.

How did Bruno Guimaraes win Martin the jackpot?

Martin correctly guessed Arsenal would beat Crystal Palace and Tottenham would win at Everton during round nine.

However, the crucial moment for him came the previous day when Newcastle looked set for a 1-1 stalemate with Fulham.

Yet, when Bruno Guimaraes rolled in a dramatic winning goal, it gave Martin his only correct scoreline of the round, the five-point boost taking his total to nine and seeing him leap two places to top spot.

What was Martin’s final points tally?

Martin topped the leaderboard with a total of 110 points over nine rounds, comprising of 25 correct results (two points) and 12 correct scores (five points).

More importantly for the 68-year-old, he banks the jackpot of £1million, and joins an elite group of people to earn seven figures from the Super 6.
