Sporting CP confirm €100m release clause for statistical match to Harry Kane
Sporting boss Ruben Amorim admits Viktor Gyökeres is being affected by interest from other clubs.
Gyökeres joined the Portuguese club from Coventry for a reported £18.5m fee and has settled in well. The 25-year-old Swedish marksman has already bagged 17 goals across 20 appearances in all competitions.

His deal with the Lisbon-based club includes a a €100m (£85m) price tag, according to Fabrizio Romano. No stranger to playing in the English football pyramid — with Gyökeres turning out for Brighton and Swansea in the past — it’s from the Premier League where interest has been the strongest.
Gyökeres’s form justifies his growing popularity. His time with Coventry, especially during their Championship play-off final run, saw his goal celebration become famous and led to comparisons — at least stylistically – with Harry Kane, who is now re-writing all kinds of Bundesliga records.
The Swede has promised to reveal the meaning behind that now-iconic celebration should Os Leões win the Primeira Liga. Speaking to Sport TV after scoring and assisting in the 2-0 win against Porto, Gyökeres said, via A Bola: “I thought you would have asked me earlier! I’ve been here for a few months and no one has asked me that question.
“I’ll tell you at the end of the season if we win the league… no problem.”

The 2023/24 campaign is Gyökeres’ maiden top-flight campaign – although he did make domestic cup appearances for Premier League Brighton during his spell with the Seagulls – and there’s a possibility of a negative knock-on effect from the growing interest which SCP manager Amorim is all too familiar with.
“I think he’s improved the team, the fans like him a lot. We have to look at the other side: today there’s talk that Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in him,” he told reporters.
“He was in England, right next to them, in the Championship. Sporting have improved Gyokeres and Gyokeres has improved Sporting, he’s brought a new energy.
“[Interest from other clubs] It affects all players, I can feel it sometimes in [Goncalo] Inacio, I can feel it in other players and Viktor is no exception.”
