Tottenham team news vs Man City and predicted lineup

Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to end their winless run when they host Manchester City on Sunday at 4:30pm.

Thomas Frank’s side are now five without victory in the Premier League, drawing three and losing two.

Tottenham predicted lineup vs Man City

Tottenham (4-2-3-1): Vicario; Spence; Van de Ven, Romero, Udogie; Palhinha, Gallagher; Odobert, Sarr, Simons; Solanke.

Spurs’ poor run leaves them 14th in the Premier League, five points outside the top half of the table and 10 off the top four.

But Tottenham did beat Man City at the Etihad earlier in the season. They’ll be looking to complete the league double over the Citizens for a 10th time.

Tottenham team news vs Man City

Tottenham are once again in a rough place when it comes to injuries. James Maddison is out for the season, while Rodrigo Bentancur will miss most of the campaign. Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Bergvall and Ben Davies aren’t expected to return to action until after the March international break at the very earliest.

The big news for Tottenham is the availability of Micky van de Ven. The Dutch centre-back missed the game in midweek with a minor injury and has been described as “touch-and-go” for this match. If he is available, Van de Ven will undoubtedly start alongside Cristian Romero at the heart of the Tottenham defence.

Djed Spence and Destiny Udogie should continue as right-back and left-back respectively, with Pedro Porro one of the latest to join the injury list. Guglielmo Vicario will start in goal.

Conor Gallagher is likely to return to the midfield after being ineligible in midweek, and should partner Joao Palhinha. Pape Sarr will join them, and can either play in a midfield three or further forward as he has in recent weeks.

Xavi Simons was moved over to the left against Eintracht Frankfurt in midweek to accommodate Sarr in the No.10, and we could see that happen again. Wilson Odobert is an option on the right. Richarlison is out injured, while Mathys Tel doesn’t appear to be in favour.

Dominic Solanke will lead the line ahead of Randal Kolo Muani, whose Tottenham future is in doubt heading into the final days of the winter transfer window.

Is time ticking out for Frank?

Tottenham qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League, finishing fourth in the group stage. They won five of their eight games in the competition, which is only two fewer than they’ve managed in 23 Premier League matches.

Tottenham fans will be familiar with the situation, winning the Europa League last season despite finishing 17th domestically. European glory was not enough to save Ange Postecoglou’s job. Frank’s status already feels at risk.

Spurs are winless in their past five Premier League games, which is becoming a regular occurrence. In fact, they’re on their fourth run of at least five without victory across the past two seasons. This is the second time under Frank, though the previous run did end at just five.

The problem is Tottenham’s form since that victory. Frank’s side have won one of their past eight league games, a narrow win over Crystal Palace. Spurs have won just two league games since the end of October, losing seven and drawing five.
