Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed Erling Haaland remains on the club’s transfer radar, and he holds ‘regular’ discussions about the possibility of bringing the Borussia Dortmund superstar to Stamford Bridge.
The Norwegian sensation has risen to meteoric prominence over the past few seasons, captivating fans during a 12-month stint at Red Bull Salzburg, during which time he netted 28 goals in 22 games, before taking his prolific scoring exploits to Dortmund last year.
Since relocating to the Ruhr district, the clinical Leeds-born marksman has, quite outrageously, bagged 70 goals in only 69 games across all competitions, further enhancing his reputation as a generational talent and a potential future Ballon d’Or winner.
Naturally, given his age (21), scoring ability and overall influence on games, Haaland has caught the attention of more than handful of covetous suitors, with the BVB sharpshooter linked to just about every top European club worth their salt, including Chelsea.
The European champions were credited with an interest in Haaland’s signature over the summer, but Tuchel has since revealed a potential transfer, at the time, “seemed absolutely unrealistic and not at all feasible”, with the club instead signing Romelu Lukaku from Inter for £97.5m.
Despite turning his attention to other targets, and going all out to bring Lukaku back to the club for a fee just shy of £100m, Tuchel says he remains in ‘regular’ contact with the Blues’ movers and shakers about the potential of courting Haaland at some point in the future.
“We talked about Erling Haaland a couple of times, including during the transfer window. But then it seemed absolutely unrealistic and not at all feasible,” Tuchel told SportBild.

“We talk about him regularly, of course, because he’s a fantastic player and clearly the defining figure at Dortmund, who is a big rival for us in the Champions League.”
Tuchel was also asked whether Haaland would work in a strike force alongside Lukaku, to which he replied: “You mean two at the top [with] Lukaku and Haaland? We can talk about it!
“I don’t think we’ve been really serious about it yet, but let’s see what will happen in the next few weeks.”
