England is one of eight referees to go into Gameweek 35 having officiated at least 20 Premier League games this season. Two of those have involved Man Utd, while Liverpool have taken part in three.

Darren England’s Liverpool record
This will be England’s 10th Liverpool game as a referee, with the Reds winning four of his nine so far. His first Liverpool game was in the Carabao Cup in 2021, but the next eight have all come in the Premier League. England did award a penalty against Liverpool in that first game, but has also awarded the Reds one. Liverpool won’t have fond memories of England’s last game in charge of them. The Reds were beaten 2-1 by Brighton in March, and had five players booked. It wasn’t just that he favoured Brighton. England booked five Brighton players too, as well as Fabian Hurzeler. That was despite only giving 11 fouls to each side. He was very quick with the card, which isn’t great.
