Thomas Bramall will referee the Saturday lunchtime Premier League fixture between Leeds and Tottenham at Elland Road.
Leeds have made a respectable start to life back in the Premier League and last weekend extended their impressive 23-game unbeaten home run in the league, which stretches back to September last year. Spurs, meanwhile, head north knowing that a win could take them to second in the table, for a few hours at least.
Bramall has overseen three Premier League games this season, during which he’s dished out a red card and 10 yellows. He also gave a second yellow card to Hugo Ekitike in the Carabao Cup after the striker took off his shirt when celebrating a late winner against Southampton.
The Sheffield-based ref attracted major controversy on the final day of last season, when he disallowed a Morgan Rogers goal for Aston Villa in their loss to Manchester United – a decision that ultimately cost Villa a place in the Champions League and led to an official complaint to PGMOL.

Leeds are unbeaten with Thomas Bramall as the referee, though the sample size is small with just two games to go off.
The first was a 5-2 win over Cardiff City in an FA Cup third-round replay at Elland Road during the 2022/23 season, where Wilfried Gnonto scored twice and picked up Leeds’ only booking. Cardiff were awarded a stoppage-time penalty, but the resulting goal served only as a consolation.
Bramall’s second, and most recent Leeds fixture, was a 1-1 draw away to Luton last season, during which the visitors had two yellow cards. The Whites went on to win their final six games to secure the Championship title on the final day.

Similarly, Bramall has overseen just two Tottenham matches, the most recent of which was last season’s 5-1 defeat at Anfield, a game in which Liverpool won the title. Despite Spurs taking an early lead, the hosts stormed back with five unanswered goals in a dominant display. There were three yellow cards in the game, with Richarlison booked for Spurs.
Bramall’s only other outing involving Tottenham came in an FA Cup third-round tie at home to Portsmouth a few seasons ago. Harry Kane netted the decisive goal in the second half, while one player from each side received a booking in a relatively controlled affair.
Summary
There’s not been too much to report from Bramall’s four matches officiating either Tottenham or Leeds, with the matches going by without major incident.
Bramall’s most recent league outing came two weeks ago in Burnley’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest, where he showed only two yellow cards in a low-key performance. However, in the three Premier League games prior, Bramall dished out eight yellow cards and sent off Wolves captain Toti Gomes for a professional foul against Bournemouth.
As previously mentioned, Bramall sent off Hugo Ekitike in the League Cup, meaning he’s dished out two reds in five games this season.
In fact, Bramall has issued four red cards in his last five Premier League games – stretching back to the end of last season – a statistic that may be worth keeping in mind ahead of Saturday’s clash at Elland Road.
