Newcastle vs Tottenham predicted line-ups and team news

Newcastle will be looking to improve upon last week’s 1-1 draw at Bournemouth when they host Tottenham.

The game will take place at 1:30pmon Sunday 1st September at St James’ Park and will be televised live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League.

Newcastle vs Tottenham predicted line-ups

Newcastle (4-3-3): Pope; Livramento, Krafth, Burn, Kelly; Longstaff, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Murphy, Isak, Gordon.

Tottenham (4-3-3): Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Kulusevski, Bissouma, Maddison; Johnson, Son, Odobert.

Both these teams have gained a draw and a win from their opening two matches of the Premier League campaign and will now be able to concentrate fully on events on the field with the transfer window having closed.

Newcastle scrapped their way to a 1-0 win over Southampton in their opening home game, having had to play for more than an hour with 10 men after Fabian Schar was sent off.

The Magpies would have been expected to win that game anyway, but they showed plenty of mettle. Manager Eddie Howe will probably be content that his team earned a 1-1 draw at his former club Bournemouth as the Cherries were harshly denied a late winning goal.

Tottenham, meanwhile, should have two wins from two games as they dominated against Leicester in their opener, particularly in the first half. But they had to be content with a point after Jamie Vardy cancelled out Pedro Porro’s effort to earn the Championship winners a draw.

An ankle injury to club-record signing Dominic Solanke was another disappointment, but Spurs were back in the groove last week when they eased past Everton 4-0.

Newcastle vs Tottenham team news

Schar still has to serve the final game of his suspension following his altercations with Southampton striker Ben Brereton Diaz, so he will be sitting out once again for Newcastle. There are also concerns that Joe Willock may not make it after he limped out of the EFL Cup success against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.

Defenders Sven Botman and Jamal Lascelles are continuing their recovery from serious knee injuries, while Callum Wilson (back) and Lewis Miley (foot) are also set to miss out.

Tottenham are confident that defender Micky van de Ven will be fit after he suffered a knock, but Solanke remains out as he makes a stuttering start to his Tottenham career.

Richarlison could be fielded as a starter for the first time this season. But it seems unlikely that Ange Postecoglou will tinker much with his side considering the standard of the performance and scale of the win they posted against Everton last weekend.
