Man Utd transfer news: Solskjaer and Espirito Santo respond to Raul Jiminez speculation

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Nuno Espirito Santo have both responded to rumours linking Wolves striker Raul Jimenez with Manchester United.

The Mexico international has become a key part of Espirito Santo’s side since their Premier League return last season, scoring 34 goals in 77 appearances across all competitions.

Could Jimenez move to United? Five things to know…

  • Jimenez has scored 34 goals in 77 Wolves appearances since joining from Benfica.
  • 17 of those goals have come this season alone, including nine in 11 Europa League appearances.
  • His form has reportedly attracted the attention of Manchester United.
  • Solskjaer has refused to be drawn on reports linking his club with the Mexican.
  • But Espirito Santo as admitted “anything can happen” while the transfer window is open.

Half of those goals have come this season alone and his form has seemingly alerted a number of high-profile clubs to his presence, including United — who missed out on Erling Braut Haaland to Borussia Dortmund earlier this month.

United played out a 0-0 draw with Wolves in the FA Cup third round on Saturday and when asked after the match about his stance on Jimenez, Solskjaer praised the striker’s ability but refused to be drawn on the rumours.

“Another good player being linked with us,” he said. “Loads of players are being linked with us. I can’t comment on speculation.”

Espirito Santo, however, was a little more open about the rumours, maintaining he’s happy with Jimenez but admitting “anything can happen” as long as the transfer window is open.

“It’s the first time I heard it. Ole didn’t mention anything about that.

“The transfer window is open. When it is open anything can happen. As managers, we have to be ready because anything can happen. We are very happy with Raul.”

Man Utd face a tough Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg clash with Manchester City on Tuesday, while Wolves host Newcastle in the Premier League on Saturday.
