Man Utd team news vs Nottingham Forest and predicted lineup

Manchester United will be looking to end their home campaign on a high when they host Nottingham Forest on Sunday at 12:30pm.

This will be the Red Devils’ final game at Old Trafford this season.

Man Utd predicted lineup vs Nottingham Forest

Man Utd (4-2-3-1): Lammens; Mazraoui, Maguire, Martinez, Shaw; Mainoo, Casemiro; Diallo, Fernandes, Cunha; Sesko.

Michael Carrick’s side have already secured a third-placed finish in the Premier League this season, so only have pride to play for. They go into this game unbeaten in their past four games, winning three.

The three-game winning streak did come to an end last weekend as Man Utd were held to a goalless draw by Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. And Man Utd are winless in their last four league games against Nottingham Forest.

Man Utd team news vs Nottingham Forest

Man Utd have a few injury doubts for this weekend’s game. But there is nothing too serious. Casemiro missed the draw with Sunderland last weekend but is expected to return. He’ll be certain to start, on what will be his final game at Old Trafford as a Man Utd player.

The Brazilian will replace Mason Mount alongside Kobbie Mainoo in the double pivot. Bruno Fernandes will remain in the No.10 as he seeks the Premier League assist record. Benjamin Sesko will hope to be back from his slightly injury, replacing Joshua Zirkzee in leading the line.

There is also a slight chance that Matthijs de Ligt could be involved after his injury issues. But any appearance will come from the bench, with Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire back as the first-choice centre-back pairing.

Aside from the returns of Casemiro and Sesko, Man Utd should remain unchanged from the draw with Sunderland. Luke Shaw and Noussair Mazraoui seem to be the first-choice full-back options, with Amad Diallo getting the nod ahead of Bryan Mbeumo on the right wing. Matheus Cunha is on the left.

Good omens for strong finish

The final home game is always a big part of the Premier League season. And Man Utd have reason to celebrate. Their third-placed finish is a big improvement from finishing 15th last season. And even from their eighth-placed finish in 2023-24.

With nothing to play for, this game can be a day of celebration. And a chance to bid farewell to those who will be leaving the club this summer, without the added pressure of a must-win match.

Regardless of the situations, Man Utd normally send their fans home happy in the final Old Trafford game. The Red Devils have lost their final home league game in just one of the past 18 seasons, winning 13.

Carrick has also won eight of his nine games at Old Trafford as Man Utd manager across the two stints. The only failure was the 2-1 defeat to Leeds United in April. But that run has seen Man Utd beat the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool and Aston Villa.

Last weekend’s failure to score against Sunderland was also a rarity. It ended a run of 23 Premier Leauge games in which Man Utd had found the net. They last failed to score in back-to-back league games last season.
