Manchester United have ground to make up in the Europa League and they will be keen to kick on when they take on Bodo/Glimt at Old Trafford on Thursday, November 28th.

Manchester United vs Bodo/Glimt predicted lineups

Manchester United (3-4-2-1): Onana; Mazraoui, De Ligt, Shaw; Dalot, Casemiro, Eriksen, Diallo; Zirkzee, Fernandes; Hojlund

Bodo/Glimt (4-3-3): Haikin; Sjovold, Nielsen, Bjortuft, Bjorkan; Evjen, Berg, Saltnes; Zinckernagel, Hogh, Hauge.

The Red Devils are mid-table in the 36-team league phase and their clash with the Norwegian top-flight leaders kicks off at 8pm.

Ruben Amorim failed to win his first match as Manchester United manager and the 1-1 draw with Ipswich on Sunday offered a stark reminder as to the scale of the job in hand for the Portuguese manager at Old Trafford.

Speaking after the match at Portman Road in which his side took the lead after just 81 seconds, Amorim remarked: “We are going to suffer, but we will try to win games. This will take time. But I know we will have to win games. We could have [won] this game, we could have lost if it wasn’t for [goalkeeper] Onana. But we have to think, be pragmatic and say these guys had two days to train.”

United have had to get to grips with Amorim’s methods and this fixture arguably represents a more comfortable task for the Old Trafford outfit.

Bodo/Glimt are leading the way in the Norwegian Eliteserien but the top-level of that competition may not be as high a standard as that of a side dwelling in the lower reaches of the Premier League so United should win this contest with some degree of comfort.

The Norwegian side face a must-win final league fixture to wrap up their domestic title so they may be forgiven for letting their minds wander at Old Trafford on Thursday, while United have won their last two home fixtures without conceding a goal.

Manchester United vs Bodo/Glimt team news

It is no secret that Amorim prefers a 3-4-2-1 formation but the Portuguese manager isn’t being helped in that regard by a raft of injuries at centre-back.

Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire, Lenny Yoro and Victor Lindelof are all set to miss out on Thursday, meaning Jonny Evans, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are likely to form a makeshift back three for United, just as they did at Ipswich on Sunday.

Evans was replaced by the returning Luke Shaw after just 56 minutes of the Portman Road encounter and Shaw may get the chance to start on Thursday as he continues his return from injury.

Tyrell Malacia was an unused substitute at the weekend but could also be pushing for a start if Evans is deemed not fit to line up at kick-off.

Neither Kobbie Mainoo nor Manuel Ugarte were deemed fit enough to start against Ipswich, and will likely be kept in reserve once more, with Sunday’s Premier League clash with Everton looming large on the horizon.

Bodo/Glimt will be without Omar Elabdelloaui, Samuel Burakovsky, Daniel Bassi, Gaute Vetti and Syver Skeide for their first-ever encounter with United, and head coach Kjetil Knutsen may make more changes with Sunday’s Norwegian title decider in mind.
