Jurgen Klopp has made the talented tyro his second summer signing after the recruitment of another teenage starlet in Sepp van den Berg from PEC Zwolle for £1.4m.

The Reds have fended off interest from a number of elite European clubs, including the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig for Elliott’s signature.

Fulham were hopeful that their efforts to provide the midfielder first-team opportunities towards the end of the campaign would have been enough to help convince him to stay in west London.

However, the England Under-17 international has now rejected a scholarship at the club in favour of moving to the Champions League winners, but will be unable to sign a professional contract until his 17th birthday next April.

In a post on his Instagram account, Elliot said: “I am so happy to be able to announce that I have signed for Liverpool.

“To have joined the club that I supported as a boy is a dream come true for me and all of my family and it’s an incredible feeling to now officially be able to call myself a Red.

“I can’t wait to get started and it will be a truly special feeling to pull the famous red jersey on.

“I’ll work as hard as I possibly can for the club and I feel Anfield is the perfect place for me to develop and progress as a player.”

The Surrey-born midfielder became the Premier League’s youngest ever player when he made a second half appearance against Wolverhampton Wanderers in May.

He followed his Fulham debut up by appearing the following week in the last Premier League match of the season against Newcastle United, again as a late substitute.

Described by Fulham manager, Scott Parker, as a “a special talent” earlier in the year, Elliot’s schoolboy contract in west London expired in June and he will now join up with the Liverpool squad for their training camp in Evian.
