Liverpool team news vs Qarabag and predicted lineup

After another disappointing weekend domestically, Liverpool will be looking to bounce back on the final matchday in the league phase of the Champions League against Qarabag.

A win would see the Reds confirm their spot in the top eight.

Arne Slot’s side currently sit fourth after winning five of their first seven matches, while Qarabag are in 18th place on ten points as they hope to seal a play-off spot.

With plenty still to be decided this should be an enthralling clash at Anfield, particularly given the fact that Qarabag’s seven matches have produced 28 goals.

The match will be shown live on TNT Sports 2 and TNT Sports Ultimate.

Liverpool predicted XI vs Qarabag

Liverpool predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Frimpong, Endo, Van Dijk, Robertson; Jones, Gravenberch; Salah, Szoboszlai, Gakpo; Ekitike

Liverpool team news vs Qarabag

Joe Gomez collided with Alisson in Liverpool’s 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth at the weekend and will miss this clash as a result. Ibrahima Konate is also set to miss out through a personal matter, leaving the Reds short at the back. Slot stated that a player who is not a central defender will play there, most likely Wataru Endo.

Long-term absentees Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni remain out with knee injuries while Alexander Isak is still recovering from a leg fracture suffered last month.

Federico Chiesa is a doubt after missing the Marseille and Bournemouth games with a knock while Andy Robertson looks set to stay after a proposed deal with Tottenham broke down. The Scotsman should feature in this match.

Pressure mounting on Slot

Liverpool manager Arne Slot may have won the Premier League last season but his team’s poor title defence means that he is coming under increasing pressure.

The Reds’ 3-2 loss to Bournemouth at the weekend means that they are now 14 points off table-toppers Arsenal and are winless in their last five league games.

The Dutchman admitted in his pre-match press conference that it is “really difficult to quieten outside noise with the position we are in in the league”.

The Champions League has provided some much-needed respite for the beleaguered Reds and Slot has stated that he still thinks his side can win some silverware this season.

They face a tough pair of Premier League games following this one, though, as they take on Newcastle and Manchester City, so a comfortable win in this Champions League match would be just what the doctor ordered.

A clean sheet at home would not go amiss either. Liverpool have only blanked their opponents in two of their last seven home games, although the absences of Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez does not help matters in midweek.
