José Sa played really well at Old Trafford securing a clean sheet to help Wolves beat Manchester United 0-1.
The clean sheet was Sa’s fifth away from home in the Premier League this season, that’s a total no one else has surpassed so far in 2020/21. In fact there’s a case to be made for José Sa to be considered among the best goalkeepers in the whole division.
Going purely by the game at Old Trafford, Sa was an unflappable presence in the Wolves goal and although United didn’t exactly pepper him with shots he never looked less than comfortable and his save from Bruno Fernandes’ free-kick deep in stoppage time was superb.
A quiet night at Old Trafford was definitely not the norm for Sa this season, who is often kept rather busy by Wolves. Yet he has a league-best save percentage of 80.8%, well clear of Aaron Ramsdale in second and the might Edouard Mendy in third.
Looking into the more advanced stats, Sa has prevented 4.63 goals so far this season which is second only to Ramsdale (4.73) and way ahead of David de Gea at 3.78. And when you consider how much praise has been lavished on Ramsdale and De Gea, you can see the case for Sa.
No goalkeeper has kept more clean sheets away from home in the Premier League this season than Jose Sa (5).

Sa joined Wolves this summer and had a big job on to replace Rui Patricio, but the early signs are that the Portuguese has managed to do this quite effortlessly. In total his 8 clean sheets is joint-third-best in the division and considering five of them have come on the road in the face of hostile Premier League crowds, and that his 14 goals conceded is bettered only by Ederson (among regular starters) then we really do have to start taking José Sa seriously as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.
