West Ham assistant manager Stuart Pearce has likened Jarrod Bowen to Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah.
The 25-year-old has been in scintillating form this campaign for the Hammers and has been directly involved in 13 Premier League goals (six goals, seven assists), leading to cries from some circles for Gareth Southgate to include him in his next England squad.
That notion was recently echoed by David Moyes, who believes his forward deserves a debut call-up. And now another of West Ham’s coaching staff has been hyping up the progress of the former Hull City and Hereford United winger.
Pearce has compared the playing style of Bowen to Liverpool’s Salah, and Jurgen Klopp is thought to be admirer of the West Ham man, according to The Athletic. The Reds may require a rebuild in the not too distant future, with Salah’s contract set to expire in 2023.
The Egyptian is yet to agree new terms to extend his stay at Anfield, while Sadio Mane’s present deal also runs up next year, so Liverpool may be seeking eyeing up potential targets to carry them over if Salah or Mane are no longer at the club beyond the summer of 2023.
“The comparisons between him and probably Mo Salah,” Pearce said on talkSPORT.
“The way Mo Salah finishes where he stands the defender up and stops him and then goes again or uses the defender, you use the defender to curl the ball around into that far corner.
“And I think it’s just picking up a few comparisons that can help Jarrod with his game a little bit.

“Starting a run then stopping it, killing a defender in his tracks then going again, little things like that, that’s why I think he still has more to come from his game.
“Good thing with him, he’s got two really good feet, and the last goal he scored was with his head and he’s got a really good leap on him as well.
“So all-round he can score with his head or both feet which is a sign of a decent striker and he’s played up front for us as well which has been a real bonus for us as a team.”
