
Inter Miami are looking to make a splash on the world stage at the 2025 Fifa Club World Cup.
Designated as the hosts of the revamped tournament, the David Beckham-led MLS franchise are the competition’s youngest participants, having been founded in 2018. But what they lack in experience, they make up for with a battle-tested roster featuring record eight-time Ballon d’Or recipient Lionel Messi.

However, despite playing alongside his former Barcelona teammates Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, and Luis Suárez, not many are fancying Vice City to make a deep run in the competition. They have been drawn into a very competitive group with African royalty Al Ahly, two-time European champions FC Porto, and Palmeiras, who have won two of the last five Copa Libertadores finals.

Inter Miami got their Club World Cup campaign underway with a stalemate against Al Ahly. The rode their luck at times, with the Egyptians dominating the first half and creating plenty of chances, including a penalty miss. Miami were ultimately able to hold on though and gain a point in the opening game of the competition.

Inter Miami pulled off a massive shock when they beat European giants, Porto, in their second Club World Cup game. Inter Miami found themselves 1-0 down early on but a quickfire double in the early stages of the second half, of course inspired by Lionel Messi, gave them a vital three points.

Inter Miami went into the final game knowing they were all-but secure of a spot in the knockout stages. A draw would have been enough to seal second, while a win would have seen them take top. They did take a 2-0 lead against Palmeiras but conceded twice in the final 10 minutes, having to settle for second.

As a result of their second-placed finish in Group A, Inter Miami must face Group B winners Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16. PSG are the competition favourites, having come into the tournament as European champions.
Should Inter Miami win that game, they’ll face either Flamengo or Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals.
The top two teams in each group will progress to the knockout stages of the competition. Then, a team from the bottom half of the draw will be their opponent in the semi-finals. This includes teams like Real Madrid, Manchester City, Inter Milan, and Borussia Dortmund.
And finally, the final at MetLife Stadium on 13th July.
