The January Transfer Window may have just slammed shut, but Inter are already planning for the summer.

With a four point lead at the top of Serie A, a Champions League last-16 tie with Atletico Madrid on the horizon and a Supercoppa Italiana trophy under their arms for the third consecutive campaign, things are looking bright for the Nerazzurri this season and they look set to give their fans even more good news.

According to their director Ausilio, they are in talks with not one, but two players who could join the club on free transfers for the 2024/25 campaign.

“It’s true, we’re working on both Taremi and Zielinski deals as free agents.” He said.

“We have informed FC Porto and Napoli about the negotiations ongoing with the players. “We are in contact with both, let’s see if we can get the deals done.”

Having already added the likes of Marcus Thuram, Benjamin Pavard and Tajon Buchanan to their ranks for this campaign, Inter are once again looking to get their work done early in the transfer market and add even more quality to a side that has been near unbeatable in the league this term.

29-year-old Zielinski will offer Simeone Inzaghi some more flexibility in the centre of the park, being able to play anywhere along the midfield three or in a more advanced role if required. His incredible ability to play with both feet means he could be an important asset for Inter, especially with his know-how of the league having spent the entire of his career in Serie A with Udinese, Empoli and now Napoli.

The Pole created more chances than any other player in Serie A last season (84), registering eight assists, while in the Champions League only Jack Grealish (35) could beat him in the same metric (23) last campaign, despite him playing just 624 minutes, the fewest of any player to create 20+ chances in last season’s competition.

The Champions League is also a competition that Mehdi Taremi has caught the eye in during recent seasons, having scored seven goals and provided four assists in his 13 appearances in the competition since the start of last season, while only Sandro Tonali (9) and Kevin De Bruyne (8) created more big chances in the UCL in 2022/23 than the 31-year-old (6).

As well as impressing in Europe, Taremi has also been lethal on the domestic front notching 20+ league goals in each of the last two full seasons, scoring 20 and 22 goals respectively, as well as adding a further 19 assists. During the 2022 World Cup, he also scored twice against England and created eight chances against Wales in the group stages, the most by a player in a single game at the tournament and like Zielinski, offers Inter options as he can play as one of their two strikers, play just behind or even out wide if they were going to switch up formation during play.

These two additions once again prove that Inter are the masters of the free transfer, having already secured the services of  the likes of Hakan Çalhanoglu, Andre Onana, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Marcus Thuram, all for nothing in recent seasons.
