Scotland host Greece at Hampden Park in the second leg of their Uefa Nations League promotion/relegation play-off at 5pm on Sunday 23rd March.

Steve Clarke’s men, who are fighting to stay in League A, take a 1-0 lead into the second leg thanks to Scott McTominay’s penalty. This game will be broadcast live on BBC Two and BBC Scotland.

Greece to score first (6/5 with bet365)

Greece have been strong away from home lately. They’ve opened the scoring in each of their past five away games, since a goalless draw with Georgia in March 2024.

Scott McTominay to have 2+ shots, 1+ shots on target and win 2+ fouls (2/1 with Sky Bet)

Scott McTominay was the man for Scotland in the first leg, scoring the only goal. And he’s been in good form for Scotland in general in the Uefa Nations League. The Napoli midfielder has had at least two shots in six of his seven Uefa Nations League games in 2024-25, also hitting the target at least once in six out of seven matches. McTominay also won three fouls in four of his seven Nations League appearances.

How both teams go into Scotland vs Greece

Scotland are the nation getting a second chance here, after finishing third in their League A group. It was Scotland’s first taste of the top table, but they were given a tough task. Scotland were drawn alongside Portugal, Croatia and Scotland. Clarke’s men took seven points from their six games, winning two, drawing one and losing three. Those three defeats came in their first three games, and Scotland looked destined for automatic relegation. But they turned things around with two wins and a draw, and are now unbeaten in four.

Greece were unlucky not to seal automatic promotion to League A. The Euro 2004 winners are enjoying an excellent run of form built on a strong defensive base, and won five of their six League B games. But they ended up finishing second behind England, on head-to-head goal difference. Greece had won 1-2 at Wembley but then lost 0-3 at home to the Three Lions, having to settle for the play-offs. In winning the first leg, Scotland joined England, Germany, Netherlands and France as the only nations to beat Greece since the start of 2023 — excluding penalty-shootout defeats.

Scotland team news

Scotland came through the first leg unscathed, and Clarke may opt to remain unchanged for the return fixture. Che Adams got the nod up front, with Scott McTominay playing behind him. James Wilson is waiting for his first cap, after Max Johnston made his debut in Piraeus.

Greece team news

There were no issues for Greece from the first leg. Fotis Ioannidis started up front, with Vangelis Pavlidis coming off the bench. Konstantinos Tzolakis made his third Greece appearance, picked ahead of Odysseas Vlachodimos in goal — the Newcastle United goalkeeper has played just 45 minutes for his club this season.

Scotland vs Greece head-to-head

This is the fourth meeting between these two nations. Scotland now lead the head-to-head with two wins to Greece’s won. All three games have been won 1-0.
