Falkirk get the new Premiership season under way at home to St. Mirren on Saturday 1st August, with kick-off at 3pm at Falkirk Stadium.
Falkirk finished sixth in their first season back in the top flight, five places and 15 points above St. Mirren, who ended the campaign 11th. The head-to-head tells a different story, though — St. Mirren won both trips to Falkirk Stadium last term. Our football tips desk has two Premium Tips for the opener below, followed by the full market-by-market predictions and a score prediction.

Two calls we like for the Premiership opener, backed with the numbers. Our full market-by-market predictions table sits further down the page.
| Premium Tip | Odds | Why we’re backing it |
|---|---|---|
| Result/Both Teams to Score – Falkirk/Yes | 13/4 with bet365 | Falkirk carry real attacking threat into their opener. They scored 50 league goals last season, well clear of St Mirren’s modest 30, and now have home advantage at Falkirk Stadium. The both-teams-to-score angle looks sound too. Both sides have found the net in each of the last two meetings here, and Falkirk’s defence stays generous, with only nine clean sheets in 38 games. Expect goals, with Falkirk edging it at home. |
| Samuel Ramos anytime scorer | 9/2 with bet365 | Ramos is a new signing for St Mirren but has had an immediate impact in Paisley. He’s scored three goals in four Scottish League Cup games since arriving at the club. Ramos has been deployed in midfield, linking the middle of the pitch with the attack and the results have already paid dividends. Ramos will be looking to make an impact on the league as St Mirren target a top half finish. |

How Falkirk go into the game
Falkirk made a real go of their return to the top flight, finishing sixth and reaching the top-six split at the first attempt. John McGlynn’s side were fun to watch, too, racking up 50 goals and 58 big chances — but they were open at the back, conceding 62, more than any other side in the top half. The summer has reshaped the forward line: last season’s leading scorers have moved on, which leaves Ben Parkinson as the main goal threat in the squad. As with any opener, a first competitive run-out brings its own uncertainty over sharpness.
How St. Mirren go into the game
St. Mirren had a tougher time of it, finishing 11th on 34 points. Goals were the issue: they managed just 30 all season, and it was midfielder Killian Phillips who top-scored with four, which tells its own story about a side short of a focal point up top. There is a real positive to cling to here, though — St. Mirren won both league trips to Falkirk Stadium last season, 1-2 on each visit, so this is a ground that clearly suits them.

Falkirk vs St. Mirren head-to-head
| Date | Home | Score | Away |
|---|---|---|---|
| 21/03/26 | Falkirk | 1-2 | St. Mirren |
| 10/01/26 | St. Mirren | 0-2 | Falkirk |
| 13/09/25 | Falkirk | 1-2 | St. Mirren |
These sides met only three times last season — Falkirk’s first back in the division — and it was St. Mirren who shaded it, winning twice to Falkirk’s once. Both St. Mirren wins came at Falkirk Stadium, 1-2 on each visit, while Falkirk’s win was a 2-0 at the SMiSA Stadium in January. On this ground, at least, recent history sits with the visitors.

Falkirk vs St. Mirren score prediction
This one looks genuinely tight. Falkirk have home advantage and the greater attacking threat, but St. Mirren have made Falkirk Stadium a happy hunting ground and will fancy their chances again. We lean towards a narrow home win in a game that should have goals in it. Score prediction: Falkirk 2-1 St. Mirren.
