FA Cup quarter-final draw in full: Chelsea travel to Leicester, Man City face Newcastle

It has been an interesting few days of FA Cup action and we now know who will be facing who in the quarter-finals.

Chelsea, Sheffield United and Newcastle all recorded wins on Tuesday night, while Leicester City, Man City and Norwich all edged their way to the final eight with victories on Wednesday evening. On Thursday, Manchester United became the final team to confirm their spot.

When will FA Cup quarter-final fixtures take place? Three things to know…

  • The ties are scheduled to take place on the weekend of Saturday 21 March.
  • This is the first time since 2005/06 that all eight quarter-finalists are from the Premier League.
  • It is also only the fifth season to have the final eight remaining sides in the FA Cup all coming from the top flight.

The Blues inflicted another blow to Liverpool and their recent blip with a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge, while Chris Wilder’s men needed extra-time to narrowly beat Reading 2-1 away from home.

Newcastle needed only the regulation 90 minutes to seal their victory over Championship table-toppers West Brom in a pulsating 3-2 affair at the Hawthorns.

Elsewhere, the Foxes left it late to squeeze past Birmingham City, with Ricardo Pereira striking in the 82nd minute, while Man City recorded a similar 1-0 scoreline against Sheffield Wednesday, despite their dominance.

Norwich beat Spurs on penalties in the capital after 120 minutes failed to separate the two sides, with Tim Krul performing shootout heroics once again.

Finally, Manchester United beat a Derby County side captained by Wayne Rooney 3-0 to seal their place in the final eight.

So without further ado, here’s how the draw panned out…
