Erling Braut Haland made FIFA U20 World Cup history after putting nine past Honduras in Norway’s thumping 12-0 win.
The 18-year-old Red Bull Salzburg marksman, born in Leeds to former Norwegian international defender Alf-Inge Haland, surpassed the previous record holder Adaílton who bagged six goals for Brazil against Korea Republic in 1997.

Haland, who opened the scoring, took 29 minutes to complete his first hat-trick. His second (24 minutes) and third (13 minutes) were even faster.
In the space of one match – after blanking in his opening two outings against Uruguay and New Zealand – he became the tournament’s leading scoring, six ahead of his nearest rivals.
“I think the most important thing is how happy we feel at winning a match in the competition,” he told reporters. “Scoring is always fun, so I’m definitely feeling very happy tonight.”

Who is Erling Braut Haland?
Haland was born on July 21, 2000. His father the aforementioned Alf-Inge represented Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and Manchester City in the Premier League before hanging up his boots following a serious knee injury. Alf-Inge is probably most remember in England for a feud with former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane, with tackles between the two resulting in serious injuries for both players on different occasions.

The younger Haland would follow in his father’s footsteps by coming through at Bryne FK, the same club where Alf-Inge started, and made his debut aged 15 against Ranheim in May 2016. From there Erling would move to Norwegian giants Molde, playing under current Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, across those 50 outings he’d register 20 goals and in the process attracted the attention of Austrian powerhouse Red Bull Salzburg.
Haland joined Die Roten Bullen in January, but is yet to hold down a regular starting berth, having made five appearances to date. However, following this summer he could earn a prominent role under Marco Rose.
