Easter bring a League Two double-header, with the first set of games taking place on Friday as teams jostle for position at the business end of the season.
Nothing is decided at either end of the table in League Two but this weekend could provide crucial context when it comes to determining the fate of several teams. We’ve got all the info you need ahead of gameweek 41.

We’ve been crunching the numbers ahead of the League Two action this Friday and come up with two singles that could see profit this weekend as well as an accumulator that we think stands a good chance of coming in.
Crewe come into this game off the back of two victories, beating Shrewsbury and Oldham to jump back into the top seven. There’s a big gap above them to Salford in sixth place so picking up as many points as possible is vital, especially with Grimsby and Chesterfield holding games in hand.
Accrington had been part of the playoff race but their form has dropped off a cliff, with Stanley losing six of their last eight matches and only picking up two points in that period. It could be another bad weekend for Accrington if Crewe can pick up their third win in a row.
These two teams are right up there when it comes to goals this season. Chesterfield games have seen an average of 2.9 goals this season, with the Spireites scoring 61 goals in 39 games this season.
Cheltenham might be at the opposite end of the table but their games have featured goals, too. Their matches have averaged 2.8 goals per game this season, although that’s mainly due to the 65 goals they’ve shipped this term. If both sides continue this trajectory, this game could be full of goals.
Three potential winners in League Two on Friday
Shrewsbury or Tranmere
There’s a massive game at the wrong end of the League Two table this weekend and picking a winner looks to be near impossible. Shrewsbury and Tranmere are separated by five points and neither are safe from relegation.
A win for either side would ease their relegation troubles and has the added bonus of pushing the other further into trouble. The Shrews have lost four in a row, while Rovers have picked up just a single point from their last five games.
Newport or Crawley
That isn’t the only massive game in the relegation fight this weekend, though. Newport and Crawley also face off on Friday, sitting level on points just outside the bottom two.
Neither has set the world slight with their form recently but both were able to claim wins in their last outings, increasing confidence and momentum for both. This looks a wide open contest and a win for either side could see them move as many as five points above the relegation zone.
Charles Vernam
The Grimsby frontman is sitting on nine goals for the season but also has nine assists. He’ll be desperate to reach double figures for both of those metrics before the end of the season and he’s got a decent chance this weekend.
Grimsby come up against bottom side, Harrogate Town, and are pushing for a playoff spot. Harrogate have conceded eight goals in their last five matches and relegation is looking more and more likely. It’s a great chance for Vernam to fill his boots and get a little closer to 20 goal contributions for the season.
Three potential losers in League Two on Friday
Barrow
Barrow currently occupy the final relegation spot, earning just 32 points from 39 games this season. This weekend they come up against a MK Dons side that will be baying for blood after losing their last two games and seeing their grip on automatic promotion loosen.
Another loss for the Bluebirds could see them drop to bottom and potentially be five points from safety. The only saving grace for Barrow is that the four teams directly above them play each other this weekend and Barrow will be hoping they take points off each other and make their lives a little easier.
Bromley
Bromley currently sit top of the league, holding a five point lead over MK Dons. But the Ravens lost for the first time since the end of November last weekend, being downed 2-1 by Barrow in a shock result.
This weekend they come up against a Barnet side that still have the playoffs on their mind and have beaten both MK Dons and Cambridge in the last two weeks, two sides that occupied the other automatic promotion places. Are things about to come crumbling down for Andy Woodman’s side or will they bounce back against the Bees?
Gareth Ainsworth
It’s not been a fun time being a Gillingham fan recently. They’ve won just two of their last 13 matches and picked up just seven points from a possible 39 in that period.
This has seen the Gills drop to 17th and, though it’s very unlikely, they aren’t safe from relegation yet. Results need to turnaround quickly for Gillingham to avoid a very uncomfortable end to the season or it could be Ainsworth’s job that is under threat.
