Crystal Palace lock horns with Nottingham Forest in the Premier League at Selhurst Park on Sunday 24th August at 2pm. Both sides are aiming to build on impressive 2024-25 campaigns, during which they both secured European football. The game will be broadcast live in the UK on Sky Sports Premier League.
Draw and BTTS (16/5 with Betway)
Despite their impressive seasons, clean sheets did not come easily for either side towards the back end. In fact, Forest failed to keep any in their final nine matches, with Palace registering just two of a possible 10 in the Premier League. The Eagles are unbeaten in their last ten games in all competitions, while the Tricky Trees have tasted success just twice across the same span. Therefore, a score draw is a highly likely outcome here.
Chris Wood to score first (6/1 with Betway)
Though now well into his 34th year, Wood is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down. The New Zealander top-scored for Forest again last season with 20 goals, while he has also found the net in two of their last three meetings with Palace. The target man will be eager to build on that momentum and hit the ground running this term, especially following his brace against Brentford last weekend.
How both teams go into Crystal Palace vs Nottingham Forest
It’s been an exciting period for Crystal Palace fans. First they won the FA Cup, then they followed that up with a Community Shield victory against Liverpool. They even started their Premier League campaign with a good result, securing a 0-0 draw against Chelsea.
There are lots of rumours that Palace will be losing key players before the end of the transfer window though, with both Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi linked with moves away from the club and, if they both leave, Palace would be seriously depleted in both defence and attack.
Nottingham Forest are determined to prove that last season was no fluke and they silenced a lot of doubters last weekend when they beat Brentford 3-1 on the opening weekend of the season. Last season’s top eight finish might be out of reach again this season, especially when coupled with a European campaign but Forest will be doing their best to repeat their exploits.
There’s also a certain player that is out to prove his quality after a great campaign last season. Chris Wood scored 29 goals in all competitions last season and the 33 year old got the new season off to the perfect start when he netted twice against Brentford last weekend.
Crystal Palace team news
Daichi Kamada should return from a knee injury, though the game may be too soon for Matheus Franca, who is recovering from a thigh problem. Palace also remain without long-term absentees Eddie Nketiah and Cheick Doucoure. Oliver Glasner’s selection could well be influenced by his side’s performance against Fredrikstad on Thursday evening with the Eagles beginning their Europa Conference League campaign just three days before this game.
Nottingham Forest team news
Nicolas Dominguez remains Forest’s only injury absentee due to a knee problem. Otherwise, Nuno Espirito Santo should have a full compliment of players to choose from.
Crystal Palace vs Nottingham Forest head-to-head
