Cristiano Ronaldo failed to score for the 12th game in a row as Manchester United were held by a 1-1 draw by Burnley.
The Portuguese striker started the match on the bench as Ralf Rangnick rotated his two veteran forwards. And Cristiano spent 67 minutes watching his opponents play Burnley before coming onto the pitch with the score at 1-1.
To be fair, for the first 45 minutes his team-mates didn’t look like they missed him as they dominated Burnley and put the ball in the net three times, only for two of the goals to be ruled out for at-best dubious reasons.

However the Red Devils came out from the half-time break with none of the same energy and, after conceding an equaliser in the 47th minute, engaged Burnley in a kind of ridiculous back and forth until Rangnick felt compelled to send for Ronaldo.
The Portuguese arrived off the back of an four game scoreless streak, a run he wanted to break. And he had two excellent chances with his head from superb crosses into the box, yet the Portuguese superstar who has more than 800 career goals blazed both headers over the bar, passing up his side’s best chances to score.

That now makes it five games without a goal from Cristiano. His longest such streak since 2010 when he ended 2009/10 with a blank against Malaga and then went on a four game scoreless streak to start 2010/11 before scoring against Espanyol.
This year Ronaldo scored in the home win against Burnley but across matches against Wolves, Brentford, West Ham, Middlesbrough and now Burnley he was held without a goal. Next up for him now is a home game against Southampton.
Will Cristiano Ronaldo score against the Saints? Or will they condemn him to his longest run without a goal since his last spell with Manchester United where he went a ridiculous 12 games without scoring across winter 2009.
