The Champions League has reached Matchday Five and Celtic will be aiming to make it three home wins from three as they welcome Club Brugge on Wednesday, live on TNT Sports 3 at 8pm.

Celtic vs Club Brugge predicted lineups

Celtic (4-3-3):: Schmeichel; Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Trusty, Taylor; Engels, McGregor, Hatate; Kuhn, Furuhashi, Maeda

Club Brugge (4-2-3-1): Mignolet; Seys, Ordonez, Mechele, De Cuyper; Onyedika, Jashari; Skov Olsen, Vanaken, Tzolis; Jutgla

Brendan Rodgers’ side were very impressive last time against RB Leipzig, but they will be wary of the Belgian visitors, who turned over Aston Villa for their second win in four games last time.

Fortress Celtic Park back in play

Celtic’s European pedigree in the early part of this century under the likes of Martin O’Neill, Gordon Strachan and Neil Lennon was built on a rock-solid record in the feverish atmosphere that is Celtic Park on a big European night under the lights.

Celtic Park is renowned across Europe for creating a special atmosphere. But, across recent seasons, it appeared as though visiting sides were regarding it as something of a tourist attraction, where they could sample the noise before slipping off with the points.

Indeed, last December’s 2-1 win over Feyenoord delivered Celtic’s first Champions League home win in 10 years and they have built on that by defeating Slovan Bratislava 5-1 and Leipzig 3-1.

Making their home advantage count will go a long way to getting the Bhoys into the knockout rounds.

They have Brugge on Wednesday, and Young Boys will also visit Glasgow in the league phase and, with seven points already on the board, Rodgers knows that one more win would probably be enough to ensure at least a play-off tie in the spring.

Celtic vs Club Brugge team news

Midfielder Odin Thiago Holm is seemingly going to be Celtic’s only absentee, with the Norwegian having been sidelined since September.

Otherwise, Rodgers has a full deck to choose from, with Nicolas Kuhn a key operator in a front three that will likely include Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda.

Bjorn Meijer and Gustaf Nilsson are missing for Club Brugge, but manager Nicky Hayen should have Ferran Jutgla, Andreas Skov Olsen and Joel Ordonez back in his starting XI after they were omitted from the side that started the 7-0 win over St. Truiden at the weekend.

Christos Tzolis netted four times in that Jupiler League success, while midfielder Hans Vanaken was also on target, having scored the winner from the penalty spot against Villa in their previous Champions League outing.

Brugge have lost 3-0 to Borussia Dortmund and 3-1 to AC Milan alongside a 1-0 away win at Sturm Graz and the victory over a Villa side that hadn’t previously dropped a point.
