Bodo/Glimt vs Tottenham prediction

Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to secure their spot in the 2024-25 Europa League Final when they travel to Aspmyra Stadion to face Bodo/Glimt on Thursday 8th May at 8pm (UK time).

Ange Postecoglou’s side take a 3-1 advantage into the second leg of their semi-final. This game will be broadcast live on TNT Sports 2.

Highest Scoring Half: 1st (21/10 with Paddy Power)

Both goals in Tottenham’s past two away Europa League games have come in the first halves of their matches. The first leg of this tie saw Tottenham race into an early lead and it could be a similar story here as both teams look for the early advantage. If Tottenham do manage to grab the early lead this could lead to them shutting up shop as the game progresses meaning a lack of goals in the second half.

Brennan Johnson to score anytime (11/4 with Paddy Power)

Brennan Johnson has scored four goals in the Europa League this season. It’s been a breakout year for the Welsh winger, who has scored 19 goals for Spurs this season from his favoured right wing position. He managed to find the net in the first leg against Bodo/Glimt and it could be a familiar outcome in this tie with Johnson expected to play high up on the right and get into the box often.

How both teams go into Bodo/Glimt vs Tottenham

Bodo/Glimt went into the semi-finals as the massive underdogs, and that’s not changed after the first leg. The Norwegian side have enjoyed a good run in the Europa League this season, with some standout results along the way. Bodo/Glimt only missed out on an automatic last 16 spot on goal difference, finishing ninth in the group stage. They beat Twente and Olympiacos to reach the quarter-finals, the latter a fairly comfortable 4-2 aggregate win. And in the quarter-finals, Bodo/Glimt knocked out Lazio on penalties, despite losing a 2-0 first-leg advantage. They’ll be hoping Ulrik Saltnes’ late goal has given them a chance.

The Norwegian domestic season has only really just got started, with Bodo/Glimt playing just four games so far, at least two less than the sides above them. They currently sit in fourth position and have yet to taste defeat in the Eliteserien, drawing one and winning three. It looks like it could be another successful season for the side but they’ll need to overcome a big deficit to make it to the Europa League final.

Tottenham have put themselves in a very good position of reaching the Europa League final. It’s a stark contrast to their Premier League campaign, with Postecoglou’s men unable to finish in the top half of the table. But they’ve generally enjoyed their run in the Europa League, winning five of their eight games in the group stage. Tottenham did have to come from behind to beat AZ Alkmaar in the last 16, but they looked more in control in their quarter-final win over Eintracht Frankfurt even if the scoreline doesn’t show it. And now they take a 3-1 lead to Norway.

Domestically, it’s been a disastrous year for Tottenham who currently sit in 16th position and are without a win in four games in the Premier League. They’ve lost three of those but were able to stop that poor run with a 1-1 draw with West Ham at the weekend. It’s clear that all is not well at Spurs but a Europa League trophy would be a sweet relief for the Spurs fans and secure their passage into the Champions League next season.

Bodo/Glimt team news

Gaute Vetti is expected to miss this game.

Tottenham team news

James Maddison and Dominic Solanke both came off in the first leg with injury scares, but Postecoglou has said that their substitutions were precautions. Son Heung-min will hope to be back from his injury in time for this game, but Lucas Bergvall and Radu Dragusin are out.
