The World Matchplay continues at Winter Gardens, Blackpool this week and there’s already been high drama in the opening stage with several seeds being knocked out.
The action started on Saturday and the seeds started tumbling straight away, with both Luke Humphries and Nathan Aspinall being dumped out by Gian van Veen and Wessel Nijman, respectively.
The drama continued into Sunday’s afternoon session with Damon Heta, Rob Cross, Peter Wright and Dave Chisnall all being knocked out by players ranked lower than them in the PDC Order of Merit. Sunday evening saw normal order restored with the four seeds all making it through to the next round.
