‘Of course we’re looking’ — Bayern Munich sports director confirms Erling Haaland interest

Bayern Munich are keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland the Bavarian club’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has confirmed.

Haaland, 21, has been linked with every European club worth their salt since bursting onto the scene as a relentless goalscorer for Red Bull Salzburg, before replicating those exploits for Ruhr district giants BVB.

Bayern, who have been no strangers to pillaging the Westfalenstadion in the transfer market, having previously signed Mats Hummels, Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze from BVB in the last eight years alone, are naturally being linked to Haaland.

The Leeds-born Norwegian striker is destined to reach the very pinnacle of the sport, and former Bayern full-back turned sports director Salihamidzic has now gone on record to confirm the Bavarians are closely monitoring his situation at Der Klassiker rivals BVB.

“This is a top player that the whole world probably wants,” Salihamidzic told German outlet SPORT 1. “Of course we look there.

“Otherwise we would be full amateurs.”

Haaland staying at Dortmund, says Michael Zorc

From one sporting director to another, BVB chief Michael Zorc recently reiterated his club’s stance that Haaland will not be leaving the Ruhr Valley this summer.

The Norwegian superstar recently played a pivotal role in new manager Marco Rose getting his first official win as coach of the club, with Dortmund smashing German third division outfit SV Wehen Wiesbaden 3-0 in the first round of the DFB-Pokal on Saturday, netting a hat-trick.

New season, same Haaland, who will be looking to carry that form over when the Bundesliga starts this weekend, a prospect reaffirmed by Zorc.

“We are still planning with him. He will play for us next season,” Zorc told Sky Sport in Germany in May.
