Arsenal team news vs Slavia Prague

Arsenal have a number of injury concerns when they make the trip to Prague on Tuesday night.

Gabriel Jesus, Kai Havertz, Martin Odegaard and Noni Madueke remain on the sidelines and will not feature.

Gabriel Martinelli hasn’t played since picking up an injury against Crystal Palace and the forward will miss out again.

Martin Zubimendi and Viktor Gyokeres suffered knocks in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Burnley on Sunday and Zubimendi has been ruled out of the trip to Prague. Gyokeres could be fit to return, but it’s unlikely that manager Mikel Arteta will risk the Swedish striker.

Mikel Merino is likely to deputise up front, while midfielder Christian Norgaard is in line to make his first Champions League start.

Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapie could replace Gabriel and William Saliba at centre-back, with Ben White and Myles Lewis-Skelly coming in at full-back as Arteta rotates.

Ethan Nwaneri may be handed a role in midfield and Leandro Trossard is expected to retain his place on the left of the Gunners’ attack.

Arsenal out to continue perfect start

Arsenal have the chance to make it four Champions League victories on the bounce by beating Slavia Prague on Tuesday.

The Gunners have dismissed the challenge of Athletic Bilbao, Olympiakos and Atletico Madrid to collect nine points in Europe and the north Londoners are yet to even concede a goal in continental competition this season.

Arteta’s men have won nine matches on the bounce and Arsenal’s rock-solid defence has kept an incredible eight clean sheets on that impressive run.

The Gunners’ 2-0 win over Burnley on Sunday kept them six points clear at the top of the Premier League, and while domestic honours remain top priority for Arteta’s men, Champions League glory will also be on Arsenal’s agenda this term.

Arteta also has the League Cup quarter-final with Crystal Palace to think about, with the Spaniard expected to make full use of his talented and deep squad in their upcoming fixtures.
