Arsenal boss Ljungberg says suit was “at the dry cleaners” as he shrugs off Scholes jibe
Interim Arsenal manager Freddie Ljungberg has laughed off Paul Scholes’ criticism for not wearing a suit during his debut in the dugout against Norwich on Sunday.
The former winger was taking charge of his old club for the first time after replacing Unai Emery as manager, earning a 2-2 draw away at Carrow Road.

Ljungberg has been upbeat about Arsenal’s defensive failings after that game but, quite bizarrely, Scholes had chosen to focus more on the Swede’s choice of attire than footballing matters.
Ahead of the match, Ljungberg was wearing a knitted jumper and a shirt rather than Arsenal’s traditional navy suit, while he added an official club coat to that during the match. And Scholes believes this casual look shows a poor approach to the job — something which could cost him down the line.
“You would think he’d be out in a suit to show a bit of proudness that he took the job,” Scholes said.

“To me, that’s a great start… shirt and tie to show some discipline. I don’t think he’ll be the right man.”
Ljungberg was questioned about his former rival’s comments ahead of Arsenal’s midweek clash with Brighton & Hove Albion but rather than react, he simply laughed it off, saying his suit was “at the dry cleaners” and that the club hadn’t officially had one fitted for him yet.
“That’s extremely important. It happened so quickly that the suit was at the dry cleaners and I couldn’t get it ready,” he responded when asked about the suit by reporters.

“I’ve seen in the Premiership coaches with a tracksuit, with a suit and I’ve seen coaches with a sweater. So I’ll decide on matchday which one I will use.”
When asked if he had been fitted for a suit yet, Ljungberg responded: “We’ll see. We haven’t had me fitted yet with a club suit but I can’t really see that’s a discussion. But I will make sure you know what I will wear.”
