Antonio Conte “will do everything” to sign Romelu Lukaku for Spurs, says Italian’s former Juve teammate Fabrizio Ravanelli

Antonio Conte will look to capitalise on Romelu Lukaku’s dramatic fall out at Chelsea and attempt to lure him to Tottenham, believes the Italian’s former Juventus teammate Fabrizio Ravanelli.

It’s been a whirlwind few days for Chelsea, with Lukaku dropping a bombshell interview last Thursday in which he appeared to criticise Thomas Tuchel’s tactics while talking up a return to Inter Milan, whom he left in the summer for the Blues.

Following his comments, Tuchel dropped the club’s record signing for their crucial Premier League clash against Liverpool on Sunday, in which both sides shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw, omitting him from his matchday squad altogether.

Explaining his decision, Tuchel commented that it was best if Lukaku was left out in order to “protect the preparation of the match”, believing the saga grew “too big”, with the German not wanting it to affect the outcome of a crucial six-pointer in this season’s title race.

Speculation has now been heating up regarding Lukaku’s future at Stamford Bridge, with Tottenham even mooted as a possible destination for the forward — should he leave Chelsea —  given his strong relationship with current Spurs boss Conte, whom he thrived under at Inter last season.

And a former Champions League-winning teammate of Conte’s, Ravanelli, believes the Italian coach will do “everything” in his power to convince Lukaku to trade west London for north London and link up with him once again.

“I see him [Lukaku] joining Tottenham, I think Antonio will do everything to sign him,” Ravanelli told Sky Sport Italia.

“Perhaps, Harry Kane could leave, Lukaku knows Conte’s system really well and I think there’s a chance to see Lukaku and Conte reunite in north London.

“Tuchel has proved to have a strong personality in handling the Lukaku case,” the former Juventus and Middlesbrough striker continued.

“He has proved that he cares more about the group than the single player. To me, he is the best coach in the world right now.”
