Almeria have apologised to Man Utd following the acquisition of England U19 forward Arvin Appiah from Nottingham Forest.
The 18-year-old winger, born in Amsterdam but came through at Forest, ended a nine-year association with the former European champions when he opted a move to Spain’s second division.

A host of clubs were seemingly vying for his signature, which set Almeria back £8m, with Man Utd being among them. However, the Red Devils were beaten to the punch and Appiah’s new employers were courteous enough to send the Old Trafford-based club a message.

In a social media post, the club wrote: “Sorry @ManUtd_Es Arvin Appiah is red and white.”
Since turning professional Appiah has gone on to make eight appearances for Forest registering one goal in the process which came in their 3-2 League Cup defeat to Burton Albion last October.
He joins an Almeria side who last played in Spain top-flight four years ago. Pedro Emanuel’s team have started this season’s Segunda División unbeaten after their opening three games: two wins and one draw.
Appiah could make his debut away to Málaga on September 7.
