Chelsea ‘have the league’s best right-back’ and a freakishly goal-happy defence
In a one-sided afternoon of football, Chelsea beat Leicester thanks to their dominant defence.
The Blues’ backline has been incredibly dominant this season. They have conceded a league-best 4 goals in their 12 games and have kept four consecutive clean sheets away from home for the first time since 2008.

What’s even more amazing, however, is that Chelsea’s defence is their best form of attack. And not just in the sense that they dominate and win thanks to their back-line but in the sense that their defence is scoring all their goals!

At the King Power it was Antonio Rudiger who opened the scoring with a superb header. Reece James set-up the second and it was James and Chilwell who terrorised the Leicester defence all through the second half, leading to goals that got disallowed.
And there’s no player who sums up the Chelsea defence’s attacking prowess more than Reece James. Not only is he Chelsea’s top scorer in the Premier League so far with four goals, but he has been setting them up too as he did today (he also scored one of those disallowed goals).
Reece James has been directly involved in five goals in his last four Premier League games:

James has been directly involved in five goals across his last four Premier League games and that kind of form has led Robbie Savage to claim that he is the best right-back in the division.
“You look at Reece James, who for me is the best right-back in the country,” Savage said to BT Sport during the broadcast. And while Liverpool fans may bristle at that statement, you can’t argue with James’ phenomenal production.
