Football Manager 2020: Best wingers to sign for every budget

Forget the tactics, team talks and regens for a second. There is one reason above all else why we love Football Manager so much: signing players.
No matter where you’ve rocked up, be it the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro, the San Siro in Milan or the less illustrious pastures of Blundell Park in Lincolnshire, your in-tray has one task above all others, and that is to make signings.
If your new side is lacking a bit of panache and/or verve in the wide areas, then wingers will be high on your agenda, and we’ve made that gruelling job just that little bit smoother.
Below are a number of candidates to rejuvenate your floundering flanks, but we’re not delving into Douglas Costa or Neymar territory here, that would be too easy, right?
Instead we’ve picked out some hidden gems, freebies and wonderkids to suit every budget. So, fill your boots…
FM20 best cheap wingers to sign for under £1m
Biro Biro (unattached)
Starting out with a free agent, Biro Biro can be picked up for nothing and would make for a fine addition to any top-flight club.
The 24-year-old has all the required skills of an archetypal Brazilian winger, with 16 for dribbling, 14 for first touch and a whole host of key physical attributes, including acceleration, agility and pace.
Jack Byrne (Shamrock Rovers)
From South America to Shamrock Rovers, Byrne is quite the unheralded winger just waiting to be snapped up and unleashed in a more star-studded terrain.
The 23-year-old is valued at a measly £145k but packs some quite incredible stats for such an unknown winger. His 15 for dribbling is complemented by 16 for flair, 13 for first touch and 13 for technique. He would add depth in the top leagues, or be an astute acquisition further down the football pyramid.
Naci Unuvar (Ajax)
Unuvar is wanted by a number of Europe’s elite upon loading up your new save, including Arsenal, PSG and Inter, so you will face stern competition to say the least.
This teenage talent is yet to sign his first professional contract with Ajax so you can approach to sign him from the Amsterdammers, and the compensation package won’t cost you more than £1m. He has 15 for finishing which is outrageous for, not only a 16-year-old, but for a winger as well, while he also boasts 14 for dribbling and 15 for technique.
Look out for 15-year-old Rayan Cherki as well, who can be picked up similarly to Unuvar on the cheap from Lyon.
FM20 best wingers to sign for £1m-£10m
Francisco Trincao (Braga)
This Portuguese phenom has just signed for Barcelona, which tells you everything needed to know about just how good this guy is.
His technical attributes are second to none for a teenager and he can be picked up for less than £10m. A bargain when you think he set Barca back £26m.
Manor Solomon (Shakhtar Donetsk)
Shakhtar is a rich breeding ground for technically superb players and the latest to rise to prominence in Ukraine is Solomon.
The Israel international is a dribble master and more of a traditional winger, in that he will look to take his opponents on at every opportunity and drill crosses into the box. He comes with excellent mental attributes as well, so rapid development shouldn’t be an issue.
Justin Kluivert (Roma)
Quite incredibly, you can pick up Kluivert for just under £10.
Whether a glitch in the Matrix or simply a hidden gem to trump all hidden gems ever, this 20-year-old is an elite-level winger in every sense and comes with some ridiculous stats. Just listen: dribbling (16), first touch (16), technique (16), flair (17), acceleration (17), agility (17), pace (16). Seriously Roma, what are you thinking?
FM20 best wingers to sign for £10m-£20m
Karamoko Dembele (Celtic)
The Dembele dynasty lives on! We all know about Celtic’s teenage wunderkind and he can be yours for under £20m.
Sure, that may be a considerable sum for a 16-year-old, but if you play the long-game and develop him accordingly, providing this incisive winger the platform in which to hone his craft and nurture his skills, you’ll have a world-class player in no time.
Jarrod Bowen (Hull City)
West Ham will feel aggrieved with this one as Bowen cost them over £20m, but you can snap up the prolific goalscoring winger for a far less fee.
A must-buy for any mid-table club, Bowen is the very definition of an inside forward, able to cut in and wreak havoc with that golden left boot of his. With 16 for dribbling and 15 for finishing, the 22-year-old Englishman possesses that coveted marriage of skill and goalscoring prowess.
Pedrinho (Corinthians)
Brazil is simply a treasure trove of balletic talent. How many times are the Selecao going to produce a youngster with such technical brilliance, mesmeric footwork and rhythmic movement?
Pedrinho is another player in that silky category. His stats of 16 for dribbling, 16 for first touch and 17 for technique are quintessentially Brazilian and will add so much creativity to your side.

Javairo Dilrosun (Hertha Berlin)
The Netherlands are making quite the habit of producing top wide talent these days and Dilrosun is the latest of those.
The already-capped Dutchman not only packs creativity in abundance but he is a genuine threat with his deliveries. Crossing is an essential part of any winger’s repertoire, and Dilrosun certainly brings that to the table.
Everton (Gremio)
Another Brazilian and another who ticks all the boxes of a dribbling grandmaster.
The 23-year-old is on another planet and will completely transform your frontline. He won’t come cheap and he’s unlikely to join you if you’re languishing in mid table, so for those in the elite dugouts, this one’s for you.
Juan Cuadrado (Juventus)
This is simply a must for any Champions League club. The 31-year-old is transfer listed and should be pretty easy to prise away from Juve.
The Colombian’s versatility allows him to function in any role down the right flank, while his physical attributes are up there with the very best. He may be getting on now, but for £24m, this is a tidy option to consider and represents a real snip in the current climate.
