July has turned to August and the 2025-26 season has already begun.
This weekend marks the start of the 2025-26 League One and League Two campaigns, as well as the Scottish Premiership. And much, much more.
Elsewhere, the Premier League’s biggest clubs are all on pre-season tours or focusing on friendlies to prepare for their new campaign.
But that doesn’t mean an end to transfer business. This week alone we’ve seen Victor Osimhen make his loan move from Napoli to Galatasaray permanent, for a small transfer fee of £65million. Luis Diaz has also made a £65.5m move from Liverpool to Bayern Munich.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

- To: Marseille
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has returned to Marseille just one year after he left France for Saudi Arabia. The Gabonese striker signed for Al-Qadsiah from Marseille in the summer of 2024 for £8.4m. He scored 21 goals in 32 games across all competitions but returns to Marseille on a free transfer.
Thomas Lemar
- From: Atletico Madrid
- To: Girona
Thomas Lemar has barely featured for Atletico Madrid over the past two seasons. Injuries played their part, but Lemar also struggled to break back into the team upon his return last season. So he’ll spend the 2025-26 campaign on loan at Girona.
Dan Ndoye
- From: Bologna
- To: Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest went close to breaking their transfer record but stopped just short with the £34million signing of Dan Ndoye. The Swiss international has spent the past two seasons playing in Italy with Bologna, directly involved in 19 goals in 75 games. He joins as Forest look to replace Anthony Elanga, who left for Newcastle United earlier in the window.
Milan Skriniar

- To: Fenerbahce
Milan Skriniar missed out on Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League triumph last season, joining Fenerbahce on loan in January. He had also failed to make an appearance in the group stage before his departure. The Slovenian had fallen out of favour at the Parc des Princes and has now made his loan to Fenerbahce permanent. He played 23 times for Fenerbahce in the second half of last season.
Emerson Royal
- From: AC Milan
- To: Flamengo
After one season in Serie A, Emerson Royal has moved back to Brazil. The full-back joined AC Milan from Tottenham Hotspur last summer and played 26 games across all competitions. But it’s all change at the San Siro, and Emerson has taken the opportunity to return to Brazil. Flamengo is his destination, the fourth Brazilian club of Emerson’s career so far.
Vanja Milinkovic-Savic
- From: Torino
- To: Napoli
Vanja Milinkovic-Savic has been one of the best goalkeepers in Italy in recent years. He kept 10 clean sheets in Serie A last season and made 135 saves, the latter being the most in the division. And he’s now switched Torino for Napoli, joining the reigning Italian champions. It’s initially on loan but Napoli have an obligation to buy him next summer for £18.7m.
Asmir Begovic
- From: Everton
- To: Leicester
Asmir Begovic is on the 11th English club of his career. The Bosnian spent last season at Everton, having re-joined the Toffees after a year at Queen’s Park Rangers. But he didn’t play a game for Everton, simply there as a backup for Jordan Pickford. Begovic will be the third-choice goalkeeper at Leicester City this season, providing backup for Mads Hermansen and Jakub Stolarcyzk.
Mikey Moore

Mikey Moore was one of the highlights of Tottenham’s season in 2024-25, getting more game time especially in the Europa League. But he’ll spend the 2025-26 campaign on loan at Rangers. Tottenham will have no desire of selling Moore once the loan is done, instead viewing this as a chance for the teenager to get consistent football at a decent level.
Ante Rebic
- From: Lecce
- To: Hajduk Split
Ante Rebic has returned to Croatia, 12 years after he first left the country. The 31-year-old has represented the likes of Fiorentina, RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt, AC Milan and Besiktas across the years. He left the latter for Lecce in 2024, marking a return to Italy after just one year. But his stay also only lasted a year, with Rebic signing for Hajduk Split.
Matt Turner
- From: Nottingham Forest
- To: Lyon
Matt Turner spent two season at Nottingham Forest, though he was on loan at Crystal Palace in 2024-25, playing backup to Dean Henderson. Lyon had agreed a deal to sign Turner earlier in the summer, with the now infamous John Textor involved. But once Textor — who had stakes in both Palace and Lyon — left the French club, they tried to pull out of signing Turner. It was nothing against Turner, Lyon needed to sort out their funds to avoid relegation. The attempted cancellation was deemed unlawful and the transfer went through.
Matt Turner

- To: New England Revolution
No, you’re not mistaken. Turner’s stay at Lyon lasted about seven minutes. Literally. There were seven minutes between Nottingham Forest announcing his departure to Lyon, and New England Revolution confirming his loan signing from the French club. It marks a return for Turner, who spent six years on the books at New England, playing 111 times.
Javi Martinez
- From: Qatar SC
- To: Al-Bidda SC
It may be a surprise to some that Javi Martinez is still playing. The two-time Champions League winner turns 37 next month, and has spent the past four seasons in Qatar. He joined Qatar SC from Bayern Munich in 2021 and played 93 times for the club. Martinez has now left, but he remains in Qatar, moving to Al-Bidda SC.
Jan Bednarek
- From: Southampton
- To: Porto
Jan Bednarek was not going to return to the Championship. He had been linked with a move back to the Premier League after Southampton’s relegation, with the likes of Aston Villa, Leeds United and West Ham United all reportedly interested. But Bednarek has opted to move to the sun of Porto, signing a four-year deal with the Dragons.
Gedson Fernandes
- From: Besiktas
- To: Spartak Moscow
Gedson Fernandes hasn’t quite had the career many predicted he would when he first broke through at Benfica. After various loan spells away, the Portuguese midfielder joined Besiktas in 2022 on a permanent transfer. He spent three years with the Turkish club, playing 131 times across all competitions. That includes an appearance in Europa League qualifying in 2025-26. But he has now made a permanent move to Spartak Moscow, starting afresh in Russia.
Serge Aurier

- To: Persepolis
Serge Aurier spent the past year without a club, leaving Galatasaray in the summer of 2024. But the Ivorian full-back is once again ready to play football. He has joined Iranian side Persepolis on a one-season deal, with an option to extend for a further year.
