The start of the Premier League season is just a week away and clubs are now starting to ramp up their transfer plans.
We’ve seen some big moves go through this week, with Chelsea signing Jorrel Hato from Ajax, Newcastle loaning Aaron Ramsdale after missing out on James Trafford, and Aston Villa bolstering their attack with Evann Guessand.
Meanwhile, Son Heung-min has finally left Tottenham for an MLS adventure with LAFC, while Joao Palhinha has joined the Lilywhites on loan from Bayern Munich.
Of course, they have been headline-grabbing deals, so what about the ones you might have missed?

Reinier
- From: Real Madrid
- To: Atletico Mineiro
Reinier was meant to be one of the next great Brazilian exports to Real Madrid, following in the footsteps of Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo. It never quite worked out for the attacking midfielder, who never made a senior appearance for Los Blancos and endured unproductive loan spells with Borussia Dortmund, Frosinone, Granada and Girona. He’s still only 23, though, and will now reset back in Brazil with Atletico Mineiro.
Lukas Hradecky
- From: Bayer Leverkusen
- To: Monaco
Lukas Hradecky was an incredible servant for Bayer Leverkusen, playing 286 times for them over the last seven years and playing a huge role in their 2023/24 unbeaten domestic double. Now, at 35 years old, it’s time for a new challenge, joining AS Monaco, while Die Werkself have brought in Mark Flekken from Brentford.
Steven Nzonzi
- From: Sepahan
- To: Stoke City
It’s 10 years since Steven Nzonzi left Stoke City. Since then, the Potters have been relegated from the Premier League, while Nzonzi has won a World Cup and Nations League with France, as well as a Europa League title with Sevilla. Alongside the Spanish side, he’s played for the likes of Roma, Rennes and Konyaspor in Europe, as well as Al-Rayyan in Qatar and Sepahan in Iran.
That is an incredible career path, and a big fall from grace for Stoke. Somehow, the pair have been reunited, with the French midfielder signing back at the bet365 Stadium on a free transfer. Most supporters have understandably reacted with shock that Nzonzi is even still playing.
Alfie Devine
- From: Tottenham
- To: Preston
Tottenham’s youngest-ever goalscorer and appearance maker, Alfie Devine’s career has never quite taken off like many expected. That said, the Warrington-born playmaker was solid in Belgium with Westerlo last season, registering six goals in 32 appearances, and is still only 23 years old. He’ll continue his development on loan in the Championship with Preston, hoping to secure a move away from Spurs to become a regular starter.
Yang Min-hyeok
- From: Tottenham
- To: Portsmouth
Son wasn’t the only South Korean to leave Spurs this week, as Yang Min-hyeok also secured a loan to Portsmouth. The 19-year-old looked promising at QPR during the second half of last season, while he showed flashes of his talent with Spurs during pre-season. The Lilywhites will be watching his progress in the Championship closely this season.
Vitor Reis
- From: Man City
- To: Girona
Vitor Reis made some sporadic appearances for Man City last season, as well as the full 90 minutes in a 2-0 win over Wydad AC at the Club World Cup, and he’s very highly regarded at the Etihad. But at 19 years old, he needs more experience before he can anchor a title-challenging defence. He should gain plenty of that on loan at La Liga outfit and fellow CFG side Girona.
Neto
- From: Bournemouth
- To: Botafogo
Neto spent last season away from Bournemouth on loan at Arsenal, backing up David Raya. The Cherries have brought in Djordje Petrovic from Chelsea to be their new No.1, meaning it was time for the Brazilian veteran to depart. He goes back to his homeland with Botafogo in a deal that should allow John Victor to move to the Premier League.
Armando Broja
- From: Chelsea
- To: Burnley
Armando Broja has struggled terribly with injuries and, as yet, failed to hit the heights, restricted to 11 games and zero goals on loan at Everton last season. However, there is clearly a talented player there, and the Albania international will hope to prove that as he makes a permanent move to Burnley.
Lesley Ugochuckwu has also made the move from Stamford Bridge to Turf Moor, in the same week that Burnley signed Martin Dubravka to help replace Trafford.
Wilfred Ndidi
- From: Leicester
- To: Besiktas
There was plenty of Premier League interest in Wilfred Ndidi once again this summer following Leicester’s relegation, but the experienced midfielder has instead moved east to Turkish giants Besiktas. He’ll be expected to play a big role in ending a four-year Super Lig title drought under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Marcu Guiu
- From: Chelsea
- To: Sunderland
Sunderland certainly needed a new No.9 as they head back into the Premier League, but they’ve taken a huge risk in signing Marc Guiu on loan from Chelsea. The Spaniard was vital to the Blues’ Uefa Conference League win last season, netting six goals in nine matches. However, he’s just 19 years old, has only three Premier League appearances to his name, and has failed to score in seven appearances for Chelsea outside those continental exploits.
TImothy Weah
- From: Juventus
- To: Marseille
Timothy Weah is one of the stars of the USMNT and will now prepare for next year’s World Cup in Ligue 1 with Marseille, following a productive 2024/25 campaign with Juventus that yielded six goals and five assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.
Thomas Muller
- From: Bayern Munich
- To: Vancouver Whitecaps
There are arguably fewer bigger legends in Bayern Munich history than Thomas Muller, if any. He’s the all-time appearance holder for the Bavarians, representing them 756 times across all competitions, during which time he’s won 13 Bundesliga titles and two Champions Leagues, while becoming the top German goalscorer and assist provider in the latter competition.
Now, at 35 years old, a new adventure awaits in MLS with Canadian side Vancouver Whitecaps, who are second in the Western Conference and enjoying a great season.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall
- From: Chelsea
- To: Everton
The expiry of Abdoulaye Doucoure’s contract and the end of Orel Mangala’s loan left David Moyes very short in the midfield department, but Everton have gone a long way to putting that right by signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Like Guiu, the 26-year-old played a major role in Chelsea’s Uefa Conference League triumph, as well as the Club World Cup win. He should offer serious quality in the engine room for the Toffees in their new stadium.
Tyler Morton
- From: Liverpool
- To: Lyon
There’s clearly a talented footballer in Tyler Morton, but the midfield depth pool at Liverpool is just far too deep at the moment. Instead, the England youth international will look to grow at French side Lyon, moving on a five-year deal.
Harry Toffolo
- From: Nottingham Forest
- To: Charlotte FC
Harry Toffolo was a great servant to Nottingham Forest after joining in 2022, but fell down the pecking order last season as the Tricky Trees competed in the upper reaches of the Premier League — restricted to just seven appearances across all competitions.
But the 29-year-old should make a great addition to Charlotte FC, who are managed by former Villa boss Dean Smith.
Luka Jovic
- From: AC Milan
- To: AEK Athens
AEK Athens look to be building an attack designed to win a third Super League title in nine years — following a 23-year drought without one — signing Luka Jovic from AC Milan to sit alongside the likes of Anthony Martial and Erik Lamela.
Goncalo Guedes
- From: Wolves
- To: Real Sociedad
There’s no doubt that Goncalo Guedes’ best years came in Spain when he notched 36 goals and 30 assists in 178 appearances for Valencia before joining Wolves in 2022. Despite some flashes of quality, it’s never quite worked out at Molineux for the 32-time Portugal international, who has spent time away on loan at Benfica and Villarreal. The forward is back in Spain permanently now, joining Real Sociedad.
Oliver Antman
- From: Go Ahead Eagles
- To: Rangers
Oliver Antman registered six goals and a whopping 16 assists in 36 appearances across all competitions for Go Ahead Eagles last season, helping them to a shock KNVB Cup win, so this is a serious statement signing for Rangers as they look to stop Celtic overtaking their 55-title haul this season. The Finland international has already impressed on debut, registering an assist in Rangers’ 3-0 Champions League qualifying win over Viktoria Plzen at Ibrox.
Luuk de Jong
- From: PSV
- To: Porto
PSV legend Luuk de Jong left the Philips Stadion at the end of his contract after helping deliver one more Eredivisie title. There was plenty of speculation about his future, but absolutely nobody expected him to go to Porto. Literally, nobody expected it, with not even a rumour of it happening before he was unveiled to a shocked crowd ahead of a friendly against Atletico Madrid.
Rob Holding
- From: Crystal Palace
- To: Colorado Rapids
Rob Holding endured an awful time at Crystal Palace, but that has finally come to an end as he joins the likes of Son, Muller and Toffolo in moving to MLS. In his case, it’s the Colorado Rapids who will hope to get his career back on track.
Andros Townsend
- From: Antalyaspor
- To: Kanchanaburi FC
Did you know Andros Townsend is still playing? Well, he is, and now he’s doing so for none other than Kanchanaburi Power in Thailand. The club have just been promoted to the top-flight and seem to be on a spending spree, also signing Luxembourg international Gerson Rodrigues from Dynamo Kyiv, former Real Sociedad and Zaragoza left-back Alain Oyarzun, and ex-Porto, Portimonense and Fluminense midfielder Ewerton.
