With the FIFA Club World Cup close to its end, the summer transfer window draws more attention as teams strengthen their squads ahead of the new season.
Tottenham and Newcastle recently stole the headlines by signing Mohammed Kudus and Anthony Elanga. Still, the summer transfer window has seen plenty of activity elsewhere. So here are ten deals from the past few days that you might have missed.
Mathis Amoughou
- From: Chelsea
- To: Strasbourg
Chelsea signed Mathis Amoughou from Saint-Étienne for approximately £12 million in early February, but only played him for a total of 27 minutes. The 19-year-old came on as a late substitute in easy wins over Southampton in the Premier League and Legia Warsaw in the Conference League. Now, he follows what has become a very common path for Chelsea youngsters, signing for Strasbourg—permanently, though.
Simon Adingra
- From: Brighton
- To: Sunderland
Sunderland are gearing up for their first season in the Premier League in nearly a decade, and they’re focused on building a competitive team. The latest addition is Ivorian winger Simon Adingra, who has joined from Brighton in a deal worth £21 million, plus add-ons, until 2030.
Jacob Bruun Larsen
- From: Stuttgart
- To: Burnley
In preparation for the new Premier League season, Burnley have strengthened their squad by re-signing Danish winger Jacob Bruun Larsen from Stuttgart. Bruun Larsen was part of the team during the 2023/24 season when the Clarets were relegated, having previously joined on loan from Hoffenheim.
Joe Rankin-Costello
- From: Blackburn
- To: Charlton
Charlton have made similar moves following their League One playoff success a couple of months ago, as they aim to remain in the Championship next season. Joe Rankin-Costello has left Blackburn to join the Addicks and brings a great deal of versatility, capable of playing as a fullback or winger on either side, as well as in central midfield.
Leandro Paredes
- From: Roma
- To: Boca Juniors
Argentinians have a unique and deep connection with their country when it comes to football, and Leandro Paredes has provided further evidence of this bond. The former Paris Saint-Germain player has left Roma to return to his boyhood club, Boca Juniors, during a challenging time for the team. Paredes has the potential to help lead Boca Juniors back to its glory days after the club missed out on the Copa Libertadores for two consecutive years.
Jair Cunha
- From: Botafogo
- To: Nottingham Forest
Evangelos Marinakis and John Textor have collaborated once again on a transfer involving Nottingham Forest, Botafogo, Lyon, Crystal Palace, or Olympiakos. This time, Jair Cunha is moving from Rio de Janeiro to the City Ground for the upcoming season, following Igor Jesus. The talented young centre-back showcased impressive performances in the Club World Cup and is anticipated to strengthen Forest’s defence.
Nicolas Kuhn
- From: Celtic
- To: Como
Como appear to have a knack for signing Celtic players. In January, they “stole” Álex Valle’s loan deal from Barcelona and have now taken Nicolas Kuhn away from the Hoops. Although the German winger’s performances declined slightly in the second half of the season, he still had a strong campaign in Scotland and was Celtic’s best source of talent and goals.
Borna Sosa
- From: Ajax
- To: Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace may have made a smart move by signing Borna Sosa. He had an impressive season with Stuttgart in the Bundesliga a few years ago, which earned him a transfer to Ajax in 2024. However, he struggled to replicate that form and was subsequently loaned to Torino, where he also failed to make an impact. Now, for £2 million, he joins Crystal Palace in a deal that is both low-cost and low-risk. As a left-back with good attacking potential, he could provide valuable crosses for Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Ruben Van Bommel
- From: AZ Alkmaar
- To: PSV
Ruben van Bommel, the son of Mark van Bommel, has joined the club where his father is a legend. The 20-year-old possesses a unique profile as a 6’3″ winger known for his strong work ethic and ability to both score and create goals. If he achieves even a fraction of the success his father had at PSV, it will undoubtedly be considered a positive outcome.
Aaron Cresswell
- From: West Ham
- To: Stoke City
Aaron Cresswell had left West Ham as a free agent to join Stoke City, marking his return to the Championship after 11 seasons as one of the Premier League’s most reliable left-backs. His experience and steadiness will be valuable assets for the Potters, who have faced challenges since their relegation to the Championship in 2018.
