The midweek Premier League matches have been packed with noteworthy moments, from historic winning streaks and worrying winless woes, to managers entering the record books – good and bad – and one club’s alarming struggles without their main man.
Below, we pick out the key stats and storylines from gameweek 14.
Stats you might have missed
Moyes’ away day magic
- No manager has won more Premier League away games since David Moyes re-took charge of Everton.
Everton beat Bournemouth 1-0 on the south coast thanks to a 78th-minute winner from Jack Grealish. The Toffees have now taken nine points from their last four matches and won back-to-back away games, with the other being an impressive 1-0 win at Old Trafford, despite having 10 men for 77 minutes.
Everton’s win at Bournemouth means they have now scooped eight victories on the road since David Moyes returned for his second spell, a tally matched only by Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta
Cottagers’ curse lingers on
- Manchester City have won their last 19 consecutive games against Fulham; the longest winning run one English club has over another.
You’ll no doubt have heard that Erling Haaland netted his landmark 100th Premier League goal in Man City’s thrilling 5-4 victory away to Fulham on Tuesday night, but were you aware that City have now won every single one of their last 19 matches against the Cottagers in all competitions?
It’s an almighty winning streak. In fact, it’s the longest winning run that one English side has ever had over another.
St James’ stalemate at last
- Newcastle’s 2-2 draw against Tottenham was their first Premier League home draw in 2025.
Newcastle and Tottenham served up a dramatic 2–2 draw at St James’ Park, with the hosts twice edging in front late on during the second half, only for Spurs defender Cristian Romero to drag his side level each time, including a 95th-minute overhead kick to snatch a point at the death.
The result also marked Newcastle’s first home league draw of 2025, ending a run of 16 matches without one (11 wins and 5 defeats).
Merino outgunning his teammates
- Mikel Merino has scored more Premier League goals in 2025 than any other Arsenal player (9).
Arsenal secured their tenth win of the campaign in a 2-0 win at home to Brentford, which kept the club five points clear of title challengers Man City. Mikel Merino netted for the second successive game after he opened the scoring at the Emirates, taking his tally to 11 for the season for club and country.
The Spaniard has now found the back of the net nine times in the Premier League in 2025, surprisingly more than any of his teammates.
Six of the goals have been headers, the most of any player in the Premier League during this calendar year.
Emery enters Villa history books
- Unai Emery has won more Premier League games (62) in charge of Aston Villa than any other manager in the club’s history.
Aston Villa pulled off a stunning comeback to beat Brighton 4-3 on the south coast, handing the Seagulls their first home league defeat of the season. Villa overturned a 2-0 deficit, the first time they’ve won a Premier League away match from that position in two decades.
The victory marked a historic milestone for Unai Emery, who has now recorded more Premier League wins as Aston Villa manager than anyone else, moving past John Gregory at the top of the club’s all-time list.
Parker’s pain
- Scott Parker has the worst losing ratio of any manager to oversee 20+ Premier League home games.
Things are looking pretty bleak for Burnley at the moment after Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace saw the club sink to a fifth loss in a row, leaving them four points adrift of safety. The Clarets are now winless in their last 28 Premier League matches when trailing at half-time (D2 L26).
Burnley boss Scott Parker has now suffered 22 defeats in 34 home games, the worst losing ratio (64.7%) of any manager to take charge of 20+ home games in Premier League history.
Wolves match the Blades
- Wolves’ return of two points after 14 matches is the joint-worst in the Premier League era.
Wolves are now winless in 18 Premier League games stretching back to April after they sank to a seventh straight defeat against Nottingham Forest.
Wolves, who are rock-bottom and without a point since Rob Edwards took charge (three defeats from three games), have picked up all of two points from 14 matches this season – the joint-worst return at this stage of a Premier League season alongside Sheffield United in 2020-21.
Missing Moises
- Chelsea have won just 25% of their Premier League games when Moises Caicedo hasn’t been in the starting 11 (2/8), compared to a 52% win rate when he has been a starter for them (43/82).
Leeds conjured up their best performance of the season in a 3-1 win at home to Chelsea, which ever so slightly eased the pressure on boss Daniel Farke following a run of four straight defeats.
Chelsea will be bitterly disappointed by the result, which dropped them nine points adrift of leaders Arsenal, whom they had impressively held to a draw – and nearly beaten – over the weekend despite playing the majority of the game with 10 men.
The player they had sent off against the Gunners, Moises Caicedo, is so pivotal to this Chelsea side and his absence in Yorkshire proved costly for the Blues, who have now won just 25% of their Premier League games when he hasn’t been in the starting-11 (2/8), compared to 52% when he has been a starter (43/82).
Reds’ Anfield blues
- Liverpool have failed to win three successive games at Anfield in all competitions for the first time since March 2021.
Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Sunderland, who came agonisingly close to snatching a famous late winner in the dying moments of the match.
The stalemate extended Liverpool’s winless run at Anfield to three matches across all competitions, marking the first time they’ve failed to secure victory in three straight home games since March 2021.
Frustrated Fernandes
- Bruno Fernandes has taken 40 shots without scoring against West Ham in 12 matches; the most games and attempts he’s ever produced against a single opponent without finding the net.
Manchester United were left frustrated once again as they drew 1-1 with West Ham at Old Trafford, meaning they’ve now failed to win five of their last six meetings with the Hammers.
Captain Bruno Fernandes endured another exasperating outing against the Iron: he has now taken 40 shots across 12 appearances against them without ever scoring, which is the most shots he’s registered against a single opponent without finding the net.
