Premier League stats and records you might have missed from Gameweek 12

Gameweek 12 had a significant feel to it as Arsenal strengthened their Premier League title credentials with a thumping 4-1 win over Spurs, while both Manchester City and Liverpool slipped to defeats.

Chelsea have quietly climbed up to 2nd and are now firmly entering the title-race conversation, whereas Aston Villa’s impressive resurgence continued.

At the other end of the table, rock-bottom Wolves are still desperately searching for their first win, and the pressure is mounting on Leeds boss Daniel Farke after yet another defeat.

As always, here are the stats you might have missed from the weekend’s top-flight action.

Gittens delivers again

  • No Chelsea player has provided more assists than Jamie Gittens across all competitions this season.

Chelsea are now 2nd in the table following their 2-0 win away to Burnley thanks to goals from Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez.

While Cole Palmer remains sidelined, summer signing Jamie Gittens has burst into form. It was the young Englishman who supplied the assist for Chelsea’s opener at Turf Moor, taking his tally to four assists for the season – no Chelsea player has registered more assists across all competitions.

Impressively, all four assists have come in his last four starts for the club.

Parker’s 1-0 curse

  • Scott Parker has never won a Premier League match when his side have conceded the first goal (37 games).

Burnley’s 2-0 defeat to Chelsea saw their boss Scott Parker enter the managerial history books.

Parker has, remarkably, still never won a Premier League game when his side have gone 1-0 down, with his rotten record now standing at three draws and 34 defeats.

This miserable streak of 37 winless matches now sets a new unwanted slice of history for a Premier League manager.

No new manager bounce

  • Wolves have gone 12 games without a win at the start of a season for the first time since 1983/84.

Speaking of managers, Rob Edwards sunk to a 2-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace in his first game in charge of Wolves, which left the struggling club 20th in the table and nine points off West Ham in 17th.

Wolves have now gone 12 games without a win at the start of the season for the first time since 1983/84, in a campaign which saw the Midlands club relegated in 22nd place, 21 points adrift of safety.

Reds reeling

  • Liverpool have lost back-to-back league games by a margin of 3+ goals for the first time in 60 years.

Liverpool are now 11th in the table after they were left shell-shocked in a heavy 3-0 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest.

The Reds, who were beaten 3-0 by Man City before the international break, have now lost consecutive league games by a margin of 3+ goals for the first time in a staggering 60 years.

It’s also the first time they’ve conceded 3+ goals and not scored in a league home game since August 2015.

Comeback kings

  • Brighton have gained the most points (10) from losing positions in the Premier League this season.

Brighton staged yet another comeback to beat Brentford 2-1, which moved the club up to 6th in the table.

The never-say-die Seagulls have now accumulated 10 points from losing positions this season, more than any other club in the top-flight.

Brentford’s goal machine

  • Igor Thiago set a new Brentford record for the most goals (9) in the first 12 games of a Premier League season.

Brentford may have lost late on to Brighton, but Igor Thiago continued his stunning start to the new season with yet another goal.

Thiago’s penalty, which gave Brentford the lead on the south coast, took his tally to nine goals in 12 games, which is the most by any Brentford player at this stage of a Premier League campaign, surpassing Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbeumo, who both had eight goals in 12 games.

Only Erling Haaland (14) has scored more in the Premier League so far this season.

Fulham extend promoted side streak

  • Fulham are now unbeaten in their last 11 games against promoted clubs.

Fulham grabbed a much-needed three points against form side Sunderland to ease the pressure on their boss Marco Silva, who had come under fire in the Premier League sack race.

The 1-0 victory at home to the Black Cats means the Cottagers are now unbeaten in their last 11 Premier League games against newly promoted opponents (W5 D5), having won the last four on the spin.

Howe-doo broken

  • Eddie Howe beats Pep Guardiola for the first time in the Premier League.

The spell has been broken. At the eighteenth time of trying, Eddie Howe finally got the better of Pep Guardiola in a Premier League game after his Toon side overcame Man City at St James’ Park.

Prior to Saturday’s meeting, Howe had endured a torrid run of 14 defeats and three draws from his 17 league duels with the Spaniard.

It also marked the first time that Howe had beaten Man City in 19 league games!

18 and 0 for Emery

  • Aston Villa boss Unai Emery extends unbeaten run against newly promoted sides to 18 games.

Aston Villa battled back to defeat Leeds thanks to a Morgan Rogers brace, with the playmaker taking his league goal contribution tally for 2025 to 14.

The win not only marked Villa’s sixth victory in their last seven matches – firing them up to 4th – but also extended Unai Emery’s remarkable unbeaten run against newly promoted sides to 18 games, 14 of which have ended in victory.

Arsenal’s lucky charm

  • Arsenal have never lost a game when Leandro Trossard has scored for them.

Arsenal thrashed Spurs 4-1 to move six clear at the top of the Premier League table.

Eberechi Eze grabbed the headlines after bagging a hat-trick – the 400th in Premier League history – but it was his teammate Leandro Trossard who broke the deadlock.

The victory extended Arsenal’s record of never losing a match in any competition when Trossard finds the net, with the streak now standing at 32 games.

The in-form Belgian now has four goal involvements in his last four matches in all competitions.
