The Premier League’s ‘top six’ boast squads that the majority of the football world can only dream of. They have options coming out of their ears, with elite players often waiting in the wings to replace world-class performers.

However, the players at the disposal of England’s elite clubs are not flawless. There is always room for improvement as – simply put – perfection does not exist in the sport of football.

So, with that in mind, we have asked a fan of each ‘top six’ team to pick out one player they would love to sign from their domestic rivals. Of course, we’re working in a hypothetical world here, so money is no object and rivalries can be crossed without any complications.

Will supporters go for star quality? Or perhaps plump for a player who suits their manager’s playing style?

The possibilities are endless but each fan’s choice is limited to a single player….

Liverpool Fan

Ed Smith: “I would go with Eden Hazard from Chelsea. I’d love to see him link up with the other attacking players we have. You could argue ‘where does he play?’ but that would be Jurgen Klopp’s problem to figure out!”

Manchester City Fan

Chris McCrae: “I’d have to go for Harry Kane. He would give us a different option when teams park the bus. It would take a natural goalscorer away from one of our main rivals too.”

Chelsea Fan

John Ford: “I’d probably lean towards Harry Kane. Olivier Giroud has done a good job for us, but Kane would bring the goals as well. It would break every Spurs fan’s heart too.”

Manchester United Fan

Alex Leggate: “You could put Eden Hazard in any team in the world at the moment and he would instantly improve them. He’s a magician.”

Arsenal Fan

Robin Rust: “Virgil van Dijk. The Liverpool defence has been rock solid since he came in. Meanwhile, the Arsenal defence has been fragile for some time now and this is the type of player we need. His presence would take us to the next level.”

Tottenham Fan

Dean Smith: “Kevin de Bruyne. In the centre of the park alongside a fit and firing Victor Wanyama or Eric Dier, who would cover the more defensive duties, he would be the perfect midfielder to provide everything Spurs are missing. The damage he would cause in feeding the likes of Kane and Christian Eriksen would be terrifying for the rest of the league.”
