All good things must come to an end, and following the conclusion of every Premier League season, clubs publish their released lists.
It is worth noting that players designated as “free transfers” or “released” will have their contracts expire on 30 June 2025, but could still remain at the club if a new contract is signed.
Among those listed in the 2025 edition are international stars and long-serving ambassadors who may now be seeking new opportunities.
With that said, here are ten players — some you may have forgotten were still active in England’s top division — potentially looking for a move this summer.

Thomas Partey
The first name on this list is perhaps the most striking, considering the impact Thomas Partey has had on Arsenal’s most recent campaign and, more broadly, since arriving from Atletico Madrid just under five years ago.
Now, obviously, as touched upon, things could change, and the Gunners retain his services, but with Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi linked (for a second consecutive summer), it could effectively spell the end of Partey’s time in North London, with Juventus, Inter Milan, and even Barcelona linked.
Ben Mee
A stalwart of Premier League football for the past nine seasons, Ben Mee, who came through at Manchester City but made only one League Cup appearance, presents a veteran centre-back option for those playing in English football’s top division, including the newly promoted Sunderland and Leeds, and perhaps former club Burnley, after ending a three-year stay at Brentford.
Jeffrey Schlup
It’s hard to see Jeffrey Schlupp continuing at FA Cup winners Crystal Palace after ending last season on loan at Celtic, where he added a Scottish Championship winners’ medal to the one he won while representing Leicester during their unforgettable triumphant 2015-16 campaign.
Schlup turns 33 later this year and can provide a solid rotational role and depth as a squad player. He chipped in with a goal and an assist across nine league appearances for the Bhoys, totalling 559 minutes. He predominantly played at left-back, though he can play further up and down that flank or in central midfield.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Not far behind seeing Thomas Partey on the released list is Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and that’s maybe due to reputation rather than current form. For so long, the Yorkshireman threatened to go from a promising talent to an established and credible Premier League marksman.
However, injuries have taken a toll on the ex-Three Lion, with him playing in only 60.5% of Everton’s league matches over the past four seasons. In that time, Calvert-Lewin registered 17 goals, one more than he managed in the preceding 2020/21 season (16 goals across 33 appearances), which remains his most prolific top-flight campaign.
Calvert-Lewin isn’t up there in age; he only turned 28 in March, but his injury record (predominantly a hamstring issue) would make a number of clubs think twice. There is also the potential for a contract renewal in Merseyside, but on Everton’s terms.

Jamie Vardy
A potential replacement for Calvert-Lewin could be another former England international, and the advantage is that it wouldn’t require a transfer fee, which is important given Everton’s financial constraints. David Moyes is a skilled manager who could effectively utilise Jamie Vardy’s experience and goal-scoring ability, particularly as a substitute.
Vardy, whose inspiring rags-to-riches story captivates many, concluded his time at Leicester City with style, despite his inability to help the Foxes avoid relegation.
At 38 years old, he is not yet ready to retire. Scoring nine goals in 35 league appearances is a respectable achievement, particularly for a struggling team, especially considering Vardy’s age and limited playing time. He could serve as a reliable backup, if not a starting option.
Realistically, his best chance of staying in the English top flight next season would be with one of the newly promoted clubs. A move to either Celtic or Rangers in Scotland, or even a step into Major League Soccer (MLS), should not be ruled out.
Victor Lindelof
Among the wave of signings made under José Mourinho’s tenure at Man Utd, big things were expected of Victor Lindelöf, who made a name for himself at Benfica.
However, the Swedish international never truly held down a regular starting berth at Old Trafford, often being utilised away from his favoured centre-back role (on at least one occasion, playing in defensive midfield).
He departs having made 194 appearances in the Premier League, and though it has been far from the most glorious period in the club’s history, the 30-year-old free agent still has FA Cup and EFL Cup success on his résumé.
Lukasz Fabianski
A committed player for West Ham over seven seasons, the 40-year-old Polish goalkeeper is eager to continue his career. Fans will fondly remember Lukasz Fabianski for his crucial role in the Hammers’ triumph in the 2022/23 Conference League. He leaves having made 195 Premier League appearances for the Hammers and achieved 45 clean sheets.
After his release, he declined an offer from Legia Warsaw, with the club’s sporting director, Michal Zewlakow, indicating that Fabianski wishes to remain in England. It remains uncertain whether the former Arsenal goalkeeper will attract interest from Premier League clubs as he enters the twilight of a long and successful career.

Neal Maupay
A respectable showing at Brighton, where he bagged 24 goals and seven assists across 102 league outings, earned Neal Maupay, who had many interested clubs, a move to Everton. But the grass wasn’t greener on the other side, with the Frenchman only making 29 league appearances while registering one goal.
In fact, Maupay spent two of his three seasons as an Everton player out on loan, firstly to his former club Brentford in 2023/24 and then Marseille in 2024/25, when he scored four goals in Ligue 1. The 28-year-old forward reportedly has suitors in France.
Christian Eriksen
It’s a miracle Christian Eriksen is still playing after the events of Euro 2020, when he suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch. Since then, the Danish playmaker turned out for Brentford, which earned him a move to Manchester United.
Though he hasn’t recaptured the form that placed him among the league’s premier creators, Eriksen showed glimpses of his magical play. It’s curious to see the next chapter of his career: does he return to London and team up with former Brentford boss and compatriot Thomas Frank, now in charge of Tottenham, where Eriksen enhanced his reputation, or re-sign with Ajax, where he initially made his name?
Kyle Walker-Peters
Speaking of former Tottenham alumnus, Kyle Walker-Peters is a free agent following the conclusion of his Southampton tenure. It was likely that “KWP” would depart the relegated team, considering the interest he has generated with the likes of Brighton, Everton, West Ham, and Leeds, all of which are heavily linked with the full-back’s signature. In a challenging campaign that saw him make 33 appearances, Walker-Peters contributed two assists.
Sergio Reguilon
Keeping with the Tottenham theme, Sergio Reguilon’s departure comes as no surprise, given how little he has been utilised in North London since moving there five years ago.
After making 27 appearances during his debut season, he made 25 more Premier League appearances in the 2021-22 season. He was then loaned to Atletico Madrid, Manchester United, and Brentford before playing his final four matches in the 2024-25 season.
A return to La Liga with Real Sociedad or a reunion with former Spurs boss José Mourinho at Fenerbahçe seems to be on the cards.
Mason Holgate
The versatile defender is now a free agent after concluding a decade-long tenure at Everton, where he flourished under the management of Carlo Ancelotti. Holgate established himself as a regular centre-back, although he was occasionally deployed as a defensive midfielder.
The 28-year-old Jamaican international recently played for West Bromwich Albion during the 2024/25 season, adding to his list of loan experiences that have included stints at Southampton and Sheffield United in recent years.
Danny Ings
Back-to-back ten-plus goal seasons (including a career-high 22 strikes through 38 appearances—the only time he didn’t miss a single game during a season) re-established Danny Ings as one of the league’s celebrated strikers.
But since leaving Southampton in 2021, it’s been anything but prolific. A two-year stay at Aston Villa yielded 13 goals across 48 league matches, but that earned him a move to West Ham, which didn’t go exactly to plan, with injuries playing a key factor.
He departs East London having bagged four goals in 52 appearances, and with him entering his twilight years and being prone to being sidelined, it’s hard to see if a club will make the plunge, considering Ings’ record in front of goal hasn’t been great for several years.
Pablo Sarabia
Former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Pablo Sarabia is looking for a new club after being included on Wolverhampton Wanderers’ released list. The 33-year-old former Spanish international made 23 Premier League appearances for Wolves last season, during which he contributed three goals and two assists.
Notable moments from his time at Molineux include winning the club’s Goal of the Season award twice, in the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons. There have been reports suggesting he may be returning to Sevilla, where he previously made 101 league appearances and scored 26 goals. It remains to be seen if this transfer will materialise.
