Every England player rated as Kane scores only goal in laborious victory over Andorra

England kept their 100% record under Thomas Tuchel going but they made hard work of a 0-1 win over Andorra.

Harry Kane scored the only goal of the game in the second half, with England sitting top of their 2026 World Cup qualifying group. But it wasn’t a performance to inspire, with fans still waiting for England to click under Tuchel.

Here’s how the England players rated at RCDE Stadium:

England

Jordan Pickford – 5 – Pickford became England’s second-most capped goalkeeper behind Peter Shilton on Saturday. And it was an uneventful game for the Everton shot-stopper, as you’d expect.

Curtis Jones – 6 – Jones started the game at right-back, but tactics had him pushing into the midfield and further. He couldn’t really get on the ball much to influence the game, though there were some nice touches. Officially moved into the midfield in the second half, getting involved more.

Ezri Konsa – 7 – Didn’t have too much to do defensively but produced a much-needed block to stop what could have been an Andorra equaliser.

Dan Burns – 4 – Although Andorra didn’t have too many attacking opportunities, they looked post dangerous when targeting Burn. The Newcastle United defender had a nervy moment to lose the ball and then concede a free-kick in a dangerous position in the first half. He was then beaten easily in the build up to Andorra’s best opportunity in the second half. Also misplaced a couple of easy passes.

Reece James – 5 – James was played on the left side of the defence by Tuchel, linking up with Chelsea teammate Noni Madueke down that flank. Defensively he didn’t have too much to do, and he also sat back to let the wingers do the attacking work — more as a left centre-back than a left-back. He wasn’t helped by being played on the front flank.

Jordan Henderson – 5 – He looked slow in the England midfield, and didn’t really add much to the team. His passing stats were good, but you’d expect them to be against Andorra.

Jude Bellingham – 7 – Bellingham was hampered by being played in a deeper starting possession, but he had England’s best scoring chances in the first half. Sure, they were long-range shots straight down the throat of the goalkeeper, but he was making the chances. Grew in influence, though couldn’t make the killer moment.

Cole Palmer – 5 – It was a quiet game for the Chelsea midfielder, who was put on set-pieces. But his deliveries left a lot to be desired. Palmer just couldn’t get into the game.

Morgan Rogers – 7 – The Aston Villa man had a few moments where he waltzed through the Andorran defence with lovely footwork. He was producing opportunities out of nothing down the right, and was unfortunate not to see one of them result in a goal.

Noni Madueke – 8 – Madueke was England’s best player in Andorra, starting on the left. He was probing the Andorra defence a lot and created some good chances. He should have had an assist for Kane in the first half but did get one in the second. Madueke flashed a ball across the box for Kane to stab home from close range. Had an opportunity in the denying stages to get a goal himself, but the angle was too tight.

Harry Kane – 7 – Missed two really big chances in the space of a few seconds in the first half. He missed his kick on the first chance — though the ball was knocked slightly off its path by a deflect — then put another shot wide. Kane finally opened the scoring in the 50th minute, again at a second opportunity. The Bayern Munich man was stretching for both chances, the first saved, and the second sent into the roof of the net. Goal number 72 for England, with a scoring rate of 0.68 per game.

Substitutes:

Eberechi Eze (for Palmer 64′) – 6 – Had a couple of moments on the ball after coming on, but like most of England’s attackers he was frustrated.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (for Henderson 64′) – 6 – Came on at right-back and tried to pull the strings, as England pushed for a more comfortable victory.

Anthony Gordon (for Rogers 81′) – N/A – A late sub.

Declan Rice (for Jones 81′) – N/A – A late sub.

Morgan Gibbs-White (for Bellingham 90′) – N/A – A late sub.
