Arsenal tactics: The evolution from Wenger to Emery-ball explained

Since stepping into the Emirates dugout last summer Unai Emery has overseen the transformation of a more expansive Arsenal and implemented a unique philosophy in north London.

Taking over from Arsene Wenger, a man who revolutionised the Gunners and remained at the helm for 22-years, was always going to be a difficult task for the Spaniard, but he has acclimatised well and made serene progress in the capital.

As things stand the club have already bettered their total points tally from last season in the Premier League and still have five matches remaining, while a Europa League semi-final awaits Arsenal next month.

One of the most impressive aspects of Emery’s tenure has been his tactics and style of play, developing Arsenal into a more aggressive side and employing a well-calibrated high press, with his side averaging a goal from open play every 67.5 minutes – the second best return in the league.

But how exactly has Emery transformed Arsenal fortunes and revitalised a club once stagnating under his predecessor? And what key changes has the former PSG tactician made to improve matters?

Statman Dave has all the answers to those questions in his latest video as he explains how Arsenal’s style has changed since Wenger left.
