Is using your wildcard an option this weekend? We’re sure you aren’t alone so we’ve been studying the numbers so read on for our best tips ahead of Gameweek 13.

We spent all summer creating Squawka Score, our fantasy football ranking system, which gives each player a percentage score and is designed to help you identify the gems set to propel themselves onto the FPL main stage. And now after the first few weeks of the season we’ve been given some ideas as to how the campaign could play out.

Fancy your chances against our Squawka Score super computer? We’re challenging you to beat us in our own mini-league. You can sign up here or use the league code 8ju9vx to join the Squawka Challenge League.

You can also find a full breakdown of what Squawka Score is, and how it works, via this link.

We’ve used Squawka Score to pick our squad for Gameweek 13, which has a few interesting fixtures. While we’re not expecting you to fully change your team, unless you’re an early Wildcard user, we’ve assembled a 15-man squad (within a budget of £100m) with players you should be considering — taking into account value, points, performances and fixtures — when looking at early transfers.

Gameweek 13 picks

Sam Johnstone, Crystal Palace
FPL price: 4.5m
Squawka Score: 51%

The Palace and England squad man has an enticing fixture against a team in the bottom four for xG created in Luton, and as the second highest point scoring goalkeeper in the game, Johnstone remains an excellent price point for a goalkeeper who is guaranteed to start at this stage.

Gabriel, Arsenal
FPL price: 4.8m
Squawka Score: 38%

With Ben White a slight doubt for the fixture, albeit still expected to start, Gabriel is a safe entry into an Arsenal defence that should be fairly secure against a team that have failed to register against the Gunners in their last two matches at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Alfie Doughty, Luton
FPL price: 4.4m
Squawka Score: 43%

Though Luton have been short on clean sheets so far this season, Doughty has been a real threat going forwards on the left. He is a slight doubt for the match, but, at his price point, he is worth taking the risk on as he nears the top of the ICT index in the whole league and the fixture is a good one at home to a Palace side that has been slightly short of attacking thrust on the road.

Max Kilman, Wolves
FPL price: 4.5m
Squawka Score: 23%

The former England futsal man has been the most consistent member of the Wolves defence and their improvement this season sees them go to Craven Cottage fancying that they can dominate the game and keep Fulham, who are bottom three for xG created, out.

Son Heung-Min, Spurs
FPL price: 9.4m
Squawka Score: 74%

Son cannot be ignored as a midfielder who plays as his team’s main goal threat. Despite the absence of James Maddison and so many other players who may affect Spurs’ results in the next few weeks, Ange Postecoglou will continue to set his side up to score goals and supply Son.

Bukayo Saka, Arsenal
FPL price: 8.5m
Squawka Score: 80%

Saka sits second in the ICT Index in FPL in midfielders at the moment and is the key man for Arsenal going forwards. Brentford are an intelligent team who will have plans for him, but he is one of the best players in the world and anything good that Arsenal do going forwards usually comes through him.

Mo Salah, Liverpool
FPL price: 12.7m
Squawka Score: 86%

It was a difficult decision whether to include Mo Salah when the fixture is Manchester City away, but the Egyptian will definitely play the full match, he scored a goal in both fixtures against Man City last season, and has seven goals and three assists in the Premier League against Guardiola’s men.

Eberechi Eze, Crystal Palace
FPL price: 6.1m
Squawka Score: 68%

Eze being back fully fit is a huge boon for Roy Hodgson’s side. It was clear on his return against Everton that Eze was going to come back as the main man for Palace in terms of making things happen for this side. This could be a great fixture for Eze to assert himself upon.

Erling Haaland, Man City
FPL price: 14.0m
Squawka Score: 80%

It is always a tough decision to include Haaland as 83.1% of squads also include the Norwegian and the decision to not include could always be a costly one, especially as he averages 8pts a match, the highest in the attackers. Haaland doesn’t have a great record against Liverpool for his standards, two goals, one in the Champions League and one in the EFL Cup, though he has only played against them once in the Premier League.

Dominic Solanke, Bournemouth
FPL price: 6.4m
Squawka Score: 45%

The Bournemouth centre forward is an integral part of the team and is ranking very well in the ICT Index, currently 4th in forwards, and with an attractive fixture for the Cherries, at Bramall Lane, Solanke is worth including in the forward line.

Matheus Cunha, Wolves
FPL price: 5.5m
Squawka Score: 46%

The Wolves forward line is starting to click now under Gary O’Neil and Matheus Cunha is a key part of it. O’Neil clearly respects the talent of the Brazilian, he is playing 90 minutes on a regular basis now, and he is in the top ten of all forwards in the ICT Index. With Cunha only in 1.2% of squads as well, he is an interesting differential for this week where Wolves play Fulham.

Alphonse Areola, West Ham
FPL price: 4.3m
Squawka Score: 52%

Joachim Andersen, Crystal Palace
FPL price: 5.1m
Squawka Score: 59%

Vladimir Coufal, West Ham
FPL price: 4.6m
Squawka Score: 40%

Abdoulaye Doucoure, Everton
FPL price: 5.5m
Squawka Score: 42%

Every week we’ll give you a full squad we recommend for that specific Gameweek, but it’s not feasible changing all 15 players on a regular basis if you want to stay competitive. These will merely be our favourite 15 picks within a 100M budget for that Gameweek, for if you’re considering using your Wildcard, or want to overhaul your squad at a cost.

We’re also playing along in the traditional style, tweaking our team one transfer at a time. And we’re challenging you to beat us in our own mini-league. You can sign up here or use the league code 8ju9vx to join the Squawka Challenge League.
