The Squawka Score is a metric developed to assess a player’s performance related to other players in the same position. It’s a percentage rating from 0 to 100, calculated based on various per-90-minute statistics, including the obvious stats such as goals and assists, but also some more obscure ones that are more position-specific.
GK: Matz Sels – 63% – Sels crept into the top half of Premier League goalkeepers based on their Score for last season. He improved his rankings for goals prevented per 90 minutes, and his save percentage after Vitor Pereira stepped into the dugout in February.
RB: Ola Aina – 57% – Aina displaced Nicola Savona as Forest’s preferred right-back in the second half of the season, scoring exactly the same overall, but outperforming his positional rival for creativity and duels.
CB: Nikola Milenkovic – 57% – Milenkovic was Forest’s best player last season, but he struggled to replicate that form again. He didn’t do too badly in the duel, both aerially and on the ground. His passing was poor, though.
CB – Murillo – 64% – Murillo has been one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League this season. He was strong on the ball, making up for his partner’s weaknesses. Murillo also sat in the 80-95th percentile among centre-backs for interceptions retaining possession, and shots blocked.
LB: Neco Williams – 62% – Williams’ form remained pretty consistent across the season as a whole. He sat in the 80-95th percentile among full-backs for his ground duel success rate and tackles won per 90. Williams also ranked well for last-man tackles and blocked shots.
CM – Ibrahim Sangare – 61% – Sangare ranked well for his lack of challenges lost, but his lack of ball-winning lets him down slightly.
CM – Elliot Anderson – 77% – Anderson had another exceptional season, ranking second to only Bruno Guimaraes for midfielder Scores. He sat in the 80-95th percentile among central midfielders for tackles won per 90, as well as his take-ons completed among other metrics. Anderson also ranked in the 95th percentile and above for his completed passes into the final third per 90. He leaves a big hole in the midfield after joining Manchester City.
AM – Morgan Gibbs-White – 61% – Gibbs-White saw meteoric growth for his Score between February and May, rising 16%. He previously underwhelmed on the metrics, particularly for his creativity, but since that rut, he posted nine goals and two assists.
RW – Omari Hutchinson – 56% – Hutchinson sat in the 80-95th percentile for intentional assists, big chances created and take-ons completed per 90. He ranked even better for penalty area entries and open-play crosses completed.
LW – Callum Hudson-Odoi – 54% – Hudson-Odoi scored poorly for his goal involvements and general threat. That included his tallies for intentional assists and shots per 90.
FW – Igor Jesus – 51% – Jesus ranked very poorly for his goals and general goal threat, which is not what you want for a striker. He also didn’t really link up with his teammates well.
