Aston Villa Squawka Score ratings 2025-26
The 2025-26 season is over, with Aston Villa securing a top-four finish. We’ve taken a look at the Villans’ most-used XI from the campaign below and how the players have managed to perform according to the Squawka Score rating system.
The Squawka Score is a metric developed to assess a player’s performance related to other players in the same position. It’s a percentage rating from 0 to 100, calculated based on various per-90-minute statistics, including the obvious stats such as goals and assists, but also some more obscure ones that are more position-specific.

GK: Emiliano Martinez – 60% – Martinez sits just outside the top five for goalkeepers in the Premier League in 2025-26. He ranked well for his lack of goals conceded per 90 minutes at 1.24, while also posted a decent score for his goals prevented per 90.
RB: Matty Cash – 58% – Cash was an effective cross blocker in 2025-26, averaing 0.57 per 90 while also blocking 0.42 blocked shots per 90. At the other end of the pitch, Cash completed 3.22 passes into the final third per 90.
RCB: Ezri Konsa – 58% – Konsa ranks well for his success in ground duels, wth 73.12% placing him in the 95th percentile and above among centre-backs. He also ranks there for his forward passing accuracy at 86.4%. But the Englishman is let down by other key metrics including his involvement and success in aerial duels.
LCB: Pau Torres – 57% – Being poor aerially is an Aston Villa problem, as Torres also scores pretty badly. But the Spaniard ranks very well for his lack of dispossessions in his own half, and his 5.75 completed passes into the final third per 90.
LB: Lucas Digne – 59% – Digne sits in the 80-95th percentile among full-backs for clearances per 90 at 2.96. He also ranks well for losing just 0.58 challenges per 90, and 0.87 open-play crosses completed.
RCM: Boubacar Kamara – 61% – Kamara was among the more effective central midfielders of the season. He ranks well for his aerial duels won per 90 (2.28) as well as a lack of unsuccessful touches. Kamara also sits in the 95th percentile and above among central midfielders for interceptions in his own box per 90.
LCM: Youri Tielemans – 59% – Tielemans’ Score isn’t great, but that’s because Aston Villa’s midfield is so fluid that players don’t stay in positions and roles. He does sit in the 80-95th percentile among central midfielders for his 1.74 tackles won per 90, 5.85 passes into the final third completed and other creative metrics.
RW: John McGinn – 58% – McGinn’s Score suffers a little due to him switching positions a lot this season, and the fact that his role is different from other wingers. But he sits in the 80-95th percentile for Expected Goals overperformance.
AM: Morgan Rogers – 63% – Rogers sits in the 60-80th percentile among his peers for goals per 90 as well as shots on target. Of course, he ranks better for his goals from outside the box. But his general creative numbers aren’t as good.
LW: Emiliano Buendia – 55% – Buendia has been inconsistent at times, but boy did he finish the season strongly. He averaged 0.31 goals per 90, with 0.15 of those coming from outside the box. Buendia was a key worker for Aston Villa too, averaging 1.38 tackles won per 90.
ST: Ollie Watkins – 66% – Watkins ended the campaign in fine form, boosting his overall striker Score. He scored 0.5 goals per 90 from 0.52 non-penalty post-shot xG, which is a decent return. It was also an improvement on his 0.49 non-penalty xG, so his shot placement aided his chances of scoring.
