After winning their group in CAF’s second qualification round, Ghana faced west African rivals Nigeria in the following stage and would eliminate the Super Eagles through away goals. This subsequently ended an eight year absence from the World Cup finals but if they are to escape the group phase then the Black Stars must play beyond their very best.
