Liverpool began the season in fine fettle last weekend, cruising to a 3-0 victory over Norwich City. Goals from Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah secured the three points, but in truth the Canaries offered little resistance against the rampant Reds at Carrow Road.
With Manchester City regaining the Premier League title last season, Liverpool will need to regroup this term to mount a title challenge, but with Virgil van Dijk back from injury and Ibrahima Konate brought in from RB Leipzig, you wouldn’t put it past Jurgen Klopp’s side to compete at the top end again this term.
Burnley will be hoping to keep themselves above the relegation battle this season. The Clarets struggled just a few places above the drop zone for the majority of last season, but they have enjoyed more consistent campaigns under boss Sean Dyche before and will hope for another this term.
It wasn’t an ideal start to the campaign at Turf Moor last weekend though. Despite taking the lead in the first-half through a contentious James Tarkowski header, goals from Neal Maupay and Alexis Mac Allister condemned them to a 1-2 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Liverpool vs Burnley: Match Stats
Liverpool shouldn’t face too many problems here and we anticipate another clean sheet with Virgil van Dijk back at the heart of the Reds backline. None of the last four matches between these two teams have seen more than three goals scored, so the relatively low-scoring home win options look like potentially valued markets to us here.
Roberto Firmino opened his account for the season with a goal in the win at Norwich City last weekend, clearly taking confidence from the brace he scored in the pre-season victory over Osasuna last week. The Brazilian has a good record against Burnley, scoring four times in the last three seasons against the Clarets.

Burnley caused a real stir last season with a win at Anfield, thanks to a late penalty converted by striker Ashley Barnes. That was the only victory that the Clarets have managed against the Reds in the last nine meetings however, with the Merseysiders unsurprisingly having the better of the majority of the match-ups.
